Angel’s night? Come on…
Nothing happened to my house on devils night. Not that I thought it would be an issue. I worked at the haunted house, again. Pretty slow last night. I can’t wait till sunday. You know why? Because I don’t have shit to do. The haunted house will be over. Yipee! I’m just so god damn tired. But it’s fun work, so I shouldn’t complain too much. Sunday the garage gets cleaned so I can start parking my truck in there next to Kel’s car.
Work took a bad turn
Not for me or anything, but man. What a crappy Thursday. The short of it:
The rebates in our system are not set up correctly. We knew this, and we were using a work-around. The problem is that Prophet 21 (the software vendor) couldn’t tell us how to set it up correctly. We went through 4 seperate IC’s (implementation consultants) trying to get it to work. Not one of them could do it. We finally ended up talking to the product development manager and he told us how to set it up. This was a big project that would take us some man hours to get it right. So we devoted the time, and set a deadline of 11-1. We want November to be a clean month, with good reporting. We hit our deadline with a day to spare, just to realize that IT STILL DOESN’T WORK! The best part about the whole thing is, we stumped them again. There is no way that the system will work like this. If this is how the set up their customers, none of them have clean reports. the one thing I’ve noticed in the P21UG (Prophet 21 User Group) is that the customers a satisfied with just doing work-arounds. Well this is not a good solution for us. Keep in mind that this is now the 4th time we’ve redone our rebate structure. We will be sending a bill to P21 for our time.
So here we are today, only a few hours left till the deadline, and we’re waiting for Prophet to figure out what to do. This sucks. I hate missing deadlines. Let’s see what they say.
