The Carnival of Terror is Dead.
Well, it’s over. The Carnival of Terror is closed for the year. It got old, working all those hours all the time, but it was fun working there. Kel was there every night, and even though I couldn’t sit there and talk to her all the time, at least I could see her. And I always have a good time working with my Dad, Billy and Steve. The work was fun, it was just a lot to do. The only thing left is to figure out tear down, or what’s going to happen with everything.
Did we make a killing? No. It’s all about unrealistic goals, and setting yourself up for disappointment. When we originally decided to do this, we thought we would have a certain amount of customers. We actually weren’t that far off after all. The problem is along the way we got this number stuck in our heads that was a little optimistic for our first year. People in the business say it takes 3 years to start turing a profit. If we put through the exact same amount fo people next year, we’ll do great. We’ll have a lot of time to work on it, and very little overhead. I’m really excited about doing it next year. And I’m excited for the Chicago show this year. Now we know what to look for there.
A lot of the actors said they want to come back next year. Some will, some won’t. But it will be nice to have people working in there with experience. More to the point, experience working for us.
Garage cleaning tomorrow
I get to clean the garage tomorrow! Yea! I’m actually excited about having all my shit put back together. And parking in there for the winter.
T.H.U.G
I got Tony Hawk’s Underground! I love this series of games. This is the only game I religously purchase everytime they have a new release. Every game release so far has been that much better than the last. And THUG is no different. So I’m sure, tomorrow, I will at one point sit for a while to play some more. I love this game.
I also bought it for the X-Box instead of the PS2. Couple of reasons for this. One, I alomst wanted to justify my X-Box puchase by getting a game I know I’d play a lot. And I’d also like to play a game on the X-Box that I can compare to PS2. To kind of compare the two.
Now let me state that I am a HUGE PS2 fan. I’ve been a Playstation fan since day one. But for all the Sony fanboys out there, this hurts me as much to say, as it’s going to be for you to hear. X-Box is better. Yes the controllers suck. Yes the shell itself is big and bulky. Yes it looks like a game console, instead of the sleeker looking, component esque, PS2. But you know what? The graphics are better. No more memory cards needed unless you want move data from one to another. X-Box has a built in hard drive! You can also copy any song off of any game CD to the hard drive so you can listen to it later, or while your playing another game. The load times are 100 times faster, and that makes a huge difference. All this, and it’s super hackable. There are software hacks to allow you to play MP3’s, WMA’s, MPEG’s. All kinds of shit. And there are hardware mods you can do so you can rent games and copy them to your hard drive. Which I would never do due to the fact that it’s not legal. (ahem)
