Learn something new everyday

November 10th, 2003 | Category: Play

I must say. Periodically throughout your life you realize stuff about yourself. It’s fun when that happens. Well today was one of those days for me. I realized two things today. One, I’m for sure nickname guy. Kel and I filled out our thank you cards today (finally), and we were talking about everyone afterwards. We realized that I have nicknamed almost everyone we talk to regularly. And they’re good nicknames too. Ones that other people now use. This is a fun part of my personality.

The second thing I realized, which may be a bad thing, is I’m not call someone “Mr.” guy. I realized tonight that I never call anyone Mr. or Mrs. I always refer to peoples first names. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. On the surface it would seem that I’m showing disrespect by doing this. On another note, it shows that I’m comfortable with the people I’m talking to. Personally, I’m not sure whether it’s good or bad. Someone, somewhere, needs to do a psycological study on this so I know if I’m a really comfortable person, or if I’m a dick.

So I’m leaving it up to you. My loyal blog readers. (all 3 of you) To let me know. Am I a dick for this?

Good weekend

November 10th, 2003 | Category: Play

I had a nice weekend. I woke up at like 6:00am for whatever god awful reason. Kel and I watched the movie The Italian Job. Fun flick, I really liked it. I’ve owned it since the day it came out, just havn’t had time to watch it. The only downer of the weekend is when my Dad called me to go over to YiaYia’s house and see if there was anything I wanted. I went, even though I knew I wouldn’t take anything. It just didn’t feel right. Although we did take a few things just to remember her by. All in all, it kind of sucked. Saturday night I went to Billies house to watch the Roy Jones Jr. vs Antonia Tarver fight. I thought RJJR was going to knock him out. I guess not. Looks like the weight that Jones lost had more of an affect on him than I thought it would. He didn’t look that great in the ring. He did win, but it was by decision. Billy thinks that Tarver was robbed. Billy can’t seperate his emotions enough to make a clear decision on the fight. I had to explain to him that the way boxing works is this:

If him and I are fighting, and the first round he absolutely pummels me. But I don’t go down. Then the rest of the fight I win every round by pot shotting, and sniping him, never really hurting him. I will win that fight 11 rounds to 1. Period. He still doesn’t get it. Ah well.

On Sunday I woke up at the butt-crack of dawn, again. Not sure what the deal is with that. I like it though, makes the day longer. I decided to hop in the office and go to town. Finally got the office cleaned out. Not finished, but started. Took Kel’s computer off of her desk, and put her laptop there. It looks way cleaner. I’m going to use her motherboard/processor/ram/video card for the file server. Oh and her monitor, since now we have an extra 17″ DF. Actually, maybe I’ll hook that one up to my computer as a second monitor, and run my 15″ LCD for the file server. That makes more sense since it will fit in the closet better. Guess I just have to make sure I can fit her monitor + my 19″ on my desk. Anyway, I cleaned my desk off, and setup my docking station for my laptop. The only thing that’s left is to get the spare parts out of there. When I clean the closet, I will put them in there. That will be this week. Then I’ll put the blinds up and be done. :P
Yesterday afternoon we went to the Johnsons house. Up in Westwood Estates. You have to pronounce that like you’re Thurston Howell III. For the first time we saw the patio and landscaping that Clay and Meggan had done. They did all the work themselves and it looks amazing. They did a fantastic job. The patio they built is huge! The coolest part about he whole thing is, there is no one pattern throughout. They did random patterns of stone everywhere. It looks absolutely awesome. Can’t say enough about it, so I’ll stop talking about it. Just go see it, and if you don’t know them personally, tell them Scott sent ya. :)
Kel and I are their all things electronic support. Everytime we go there we have to fix something for them. Yesterday it was their TV and their computer. The TV was the best. The batteries in the remote needed replacing. If this sounds kind of odd to you, you might now be realizing what kind of electronics retards they are. We reprogrammed their remote with the TV code again, and all is well. The computer was a different story. They had a virus. So I downloaded the removal tool and got rid of it. Then they had another virus. This one I couldn’t get rid of yet. I ran Ad-Aware and saw the worst report I’ve ever seen, lol. 68 peices of spyware, 32 registry entries, and 2 folders. So I got rid of all that crap. Seems now, that all I have to do is get rid of the other virus they have, and they’ll be all set. I also introduced them to the wonderful world of Mozilla. IE’s dirty. Then last night after I got home, Clay and I played hold em online headsup at Pacific Poker.com. I won about $250.00 off of him. I was up about $500.00, but he made a comeback.
