Monday, bloody Monday
Monday. The most hated day of the week. For most at least. I don’t really mind Mondays that much. I don’t love them, but without Mondays, we’d never get to Friday. Think of it that way.
So yesterday, Chris, Tony and myself got together at the shop to do a custom enclosure in my car. I had 2 10″ Alpines and an 800w KAC 7201 amp already in there. The amp was installed under the storage compartment in the trunk (or back, whatever it’s called in an explorer).
The amp was hidden ok, but what I didn’t like was the way it looked like a box sitting in the middle of my trunk. I wanted it to look “built-in” kind of, more like it was something OEM. So we got together yesterday around 1:00pm. We walked out of the shop at 10:30pm, finished. This is a picture taken with my camera phone, because Tony took all the pictures yesterday with his camera (which means I’ll never see them :P) I will take pictures with my digital camera, but until then, here is the finished product:

Basically we mounted my amp on an angle, made a new floor, side peices and top for the box out of MDF, cut the windows out(2 of them), back lit the windows with 2 15″ Eurolite neons, then extended the box itself to go all the way to the edges of the interior, then re-carpeted everything. Oh yeah, and wired up the switch for the neons.
I wanted and OEM look, with a custom install, without loosing any storage space. It’s exactly what I was looking for. MAD props to Chris and Tony for all their help. Chris especially, he’s a ninja carpenter. Thanks again guys!!
