Fun at Billy and Steves
Played poker last night at Billy and Steves house. Nice size game, 7 of us. Sactioned event also. The playas:
Billy
Steve
Fish
Mike
Dan
Jay
Me
Billy out first. Then Mike went out. Man, he caught a bad beat. Steve goes all-in after the flop with K, J. The flop was A, 10, rag. He had an inside straight draw, and was trying to buy it. Mike makes a great call with a pair of aces, but got outdrawn on the river when he flipped the queen. The blinds nickel and dimed Jay til Fish put him all in, and took him out. Steve goes all in pre flop, and I call him with A, J suited. The board pairs and my ace holds up and we’re down to three. Fish ends up in third place, and I take out Dan for the win.
Couple of notable hands. I get pocket kings and I’m betting big. Steves calling and the flop came J, 8, J. I’m betting, Steves calling. Turns out, he has pocket Jacks and had quads right off the flop. That was a big pot that I lost. And I was closest to the felt early in the game. Funny thing is, we saw four quads last night. Steves jacks, then the board flopped 4 dueces, then Dan had 4 dueces. Wild for sure.
So I’m short stacked, and teh blinds are still small. The problem when you start with 7 grand, is that you’re not a threat with 1200 bucks in front of you. I’m in position on the button, and look at my cards. Everyone had called the blinds up to this point. I have pocket aces. I go all in pre flop, and 3 people called me. Lol, thats what happens when your short stacked everyone will call you because it’s not that much to call, to try to take you out. My pocket aces held up, and I quadrupled up.
All in all, it was a damn good time. And I won some cash. I’m now around $640.00 ahead of second place in the MPT standings. Not bad at all.
