I stayed up late for that?

Last night the Pistons played their first game of the second round against Jersey. The Pistons rolled them….bad. It was great. I liked how at the half, Kenny Smith said that “For Jersey to win in this series they have to get transition baskets, and be taller. Becasue they’re just not big enough.” He he. The Pistons didn’t play offense that great yesterday though, at least I didn’t think they did. But their D was unstoppable. Oh, and Prince is a stud. Period. Anyone who second guesses Detroit picking Darko second instead of Carmello, just needs to watch Prince play in the post season. That should clear anything up.

The Wings on the other hand….bleh. It was sort of an exciting game, just like every game in the series, but the Wings were knocked out of the playoffs by the Flames (of all teams). The thing that sucked about it is there was no need for me to stay up late to watch it. If I wanted to see the result, I could have just watched anyone of the other games that the Wings lost. They were out hustled, out skated, and out played. And then the game ended up with a total defensive breakdown leaving a Flame wide open, untouched in front of the goal waiting for a rebound. Sound familiar? If you watched any of the rest of the series, it should. That’s how the Flames beat the Wings in every game they won.

Can we really fault the defense totally though? I don’t think so. CuJo was outstanding. He made some fantastic stops during the game. He might be the saving grace for the defense in my eyes. The offense sucked. They got some quality shots on goal, but either threw the puck right into Kippers chest, or missed the goal completely.

The Wings are full of experienced, old and wise players. Last night they just looked old.
