Seriously, what’s the next shitty thing I’m going to find out today?

May 19th, 2004 | Category: Work

I get a call from my Dad today. He says “I have bad news”. First, don’t preface a sentence with that , unless someone is dead. Because the person you’re talking to always thinks that anyway.

If you haven’t guessed by now, no one died. My Dad calls me and proceeded to tell me that the old HQ building has been leased out to someone. That building has been sitting empty for 5 years, and the 6 month stretch that we need it to stay that way, someone leases it. Son of a bitch. Now we have 30 days to get all our shit out of the building, and we don’t know where we are putting it.

Compound this news, with my boss asking me this morning to find out what kind of insurance my wife has at her new job because he doesn’t want to pay for her anymore, and that makes a shitty morning.

Then, I go home at lunch to take the next step in getting my Dads site uploaded and completed, and I can’t remember the god damn password. Now I have to go home after work and have him call me and give me the information I need, take care of what I need to do, then go to his house to finish everything up.

This day sucks so far.

Two silver linings today have been that Kel went and looked at her new car, and they have one in the state that they are going to try and get for her. And that I made a great bet online. I am a member of ExplorerX. A Ford Explorer enthusiast site. The admin and founder of the site is from Jersey. I made a bet with him that the Pistons would win tomorrow nights game, and the loser has to have their picture taken holding up a sign that says the other team is better. I sure hope the Pistons win. :)

National boycott gas day!

May 19th, 2004 | Category: Uncategorized

Today is the day, according to that popular chain letter that went around, that no one is supposed to buy gas. The letter states that by not buying gas today, the oil companies will lose a ton of money. Not true. The oil companies won’t lose anything.

This letter should be called National Shoot the Messenger day since the gas stations would be the only ones to take a hit from this….or would they? Let’s say that we as a people could get together and skip getting gas today, what would that do? Nothing. We’d still need gas tomorrow. Again, assuming that America as a whole has the capacity to ban together like this, the surge of fill-ups yesterday would be enough to overwrite anything that we were trying to do today. This concept simply will not work. We live in a world that is so dependant on oil for everything, that we are at the mercy of the oil companies. Accept it. Your little chain letter boycott isn’t going to do shit, so let it go. This brings me to my next point.

People please, for the love of God, do not believe everything you read in emails! Just because someone types it into an email, doesn’t mean it’s true. If you forward a message to 7 million people, Microsoft is not going to send you 7 million dollars. For some reason when people read the phrase “it works! I didn’t believe it till I tried it” they can’t help themselves. My favorite are the ones that preface the email with “can’t hurt to try”. Yes it can. These emails are garbage spam, and you’re contributing to the problem. Nothing really neat happens after you forward the message4 times….because it’s just a spam message!

People don’t send me these emails anymore. The last few I’ve received I replied to all on how I felt about them. It was funny, especially when people would contact the original sender asking who I was, and why I was so mean and angry, lol. But the fact remains, if you buy into that email crap, you deserve a little ridicule.

Now, copy this entire message and paste it into an email. Send it to 6 of your closest friends or Moe’s hand will come out of your monitor and slap you like the three stooges….nyuk nyuk nyuk

Overhead LCD

May 17th, 2004 | Category: Auto

My new TV for my car is supposed to be here today. The only question now is, do I want to start a project that big on a weekday? Probably not.

This is all based on UPS actually doing their job and delivering the thing like they’re supposed to. Chances of that happening are slim.

Good game

May 17th, 2004 | Category: Fun

A lot of drama with that Pistons game last night. I was sitting there, thinking that the game would start pretty soon, so I looked at the clock only to notice it was 8:50. The game started at 8. So I flipped it on to see Detroit winning by 14, then up by 17 at the half. I then watched them lose that lead until the game was tied up. Then take the lead again, and win the game. Good times. The Palace is going to be crazy on Thursday for game 7.

People I hate by Scott Rouvalis

May 16th, 2004 | Category: Uncategorized

Kelly and I are flipping the channels and the movie the Saint is on. It was the scene where Elizabeth Shue was explaining cold fusion. I don’t like her. Here is how this works, and anyone who knows me, also knows about this.

Picture a bus. This bus is going off a cliff. You have the ability to add any celebrity you can’t stand, to the bus. Who would you add?

Here is my list of female celebs that would go on my bus. Keep in mind that this list is always growing and changing. The one thing I’ve noticed is that a role someone plays can influence whether or not you want them on the bus. I’ll use Edward Norton’s character Worm in the film Rounders. By the end of that movie, you hated Worm. That means that he did a great job acting in the role. Sometimes this backfires, in my mind at least, and makes me despise the person. Like Ms. Shue in The Saint. Anyway, here’s a preview of my bus list, feel free to post a comment if you agree, disagree or would like to add or subtract someone.

Bette Midler
Sigourney Weaver
Oprah Winfery
J Lo. Fat is not hot. Which brings me to my next seat:
Cameron Manhiem. This one might come as a suprise to some of you, seeing how she’s not really a popular actress. I saw some interview with her where she was explaining her book. The book entitled “I’m a fat tub of shit, and proud of it” (something like that) and I just hate that attitude. You should try “I’m a fat tub of shit, and I need to shed a few…..hundred”.
Whitney Houston
Mariah Carey

You’ll notice that the ultimate asshat did not make the list. It wasn’t an oversight. Technically, she’s not on the bus. But Barbera Striesand is in fact strapped to the front bumper. The bus is going over the cliff forwards after all.

Just a taste. Please let me know who else should be on here. :)

Long night…longer day

May 14th, 2004 | Category: Uncategorized

Played poker last night. First of all, Fish took down the first game so congrats bro, welcome to the championship! I took down the second, which brought me past the second hurdle of being at least 1000 ahead of 2nd place. Yea for me.

As you have already figured out, we played two games last night. The first game was Joey, Tony, Steve, Billy, Fish and myself. This is the one Fish took down. The second was the same, except Steve. He left after the first game. In hindsight, I should have done the same.

I rolled in last night at 3:00am. Wow, was that dumb. I’m beyond dragging ass here at work. I’m down right out of it. I need to power nap.

It might not be popular, but I need to leave at 4:30 today. I won’t be able to function much past that!

Rescheduled?!?

May 13th, 2004 | Category: Uncategorized

UPS sucks!

What the fuck does rescheduled mean? I think it’s there terminology for “oops, we forgot to ship this package for 2 days”.

Seriously, could UPS suck anymore? I don’t think so. I wanted to work on this thing this weekend. I can’t beleive it’s taking them a week to ship here from Jersey. Not only could I have picked it up faster, I could have picked it up faster on a damn Schwinn!

Excuse me a second, I have to go out back and slap our UPS guy.
