Warehouse conference tomorrow

June 29th, 2004 | Category: Work

Tomorrow and Thursday I have a Warehouse and Inventory Control conference to go to at the Southfield Hilton. Um…anyone know where that is? I’ll find it. I have a map, and it appears that it’s right near the Doubletree hotel where we do that job for my Dad all the time. Although neither one of us have ever seen it. It shouldn’t be too hard to find. I just have no idea what time to leave tomorrow morning. Kel gave me an idea, so I will try to come as close to that as possible. Maybe I’ll I’ll get up and go to breakfast first….HA, just kidding. No way I’ll be up that early. But it is nice that I can dress as casual as I want for the next few days. I have a meeting on Friday morning, but other than that, it should be a nice relaxing week before the long weekend. (we’re going up north) This is provided that this conference doesn’t suck.

PS
To go along with the 80’s post below of the Decepticon Soundwave breakdancing, I’m listening to 80’s music right now. I just heard Wild Wild West byt Escape Club, lol.

Good weekend

June 28th, 2004 | Category: Fun

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday after work I hopped on the treadmill and ran for 2 miles. Then, for some reason, I decided to see how long it would take me to ride my bike to the bike shop. I wanted to get a water bottle and a water bottle holder. So at 7:10pm I hopped on my bike and rode to the bike shop. Turns out, it was a little farther than I thought….into the wind the entire ride there. So the ride there kind of sucked, but I got there, picked up a new holder (which they gave me for free because mine broke), two water bottles, and a pair of riding gloves. The gloves are the best thing I could have bought. My palms were hurting because I lean over on my handle bars so much, but these gloves work great. Turns out it was a 10 mile trip total, good times.

The only thing I didn’t think about was the fact that I had already run 2 miles on the treadmill. Then the 10 mile bike trip and, well, my legs were jello. I decided to take Saturday off from working out, to give my legs a break. Saturday night I picked up Joey, and we played poker at the shop. We ended up playing until 5:30am Sunday morning.

I crashed for a couple of hours and woke up around 11:00am Sunday morning. Took Joey home and Kel and I drove to Stoney Creek to do some more bike riding. We did one trip around Stoney, just to check it out more or less. It’s 6.6 miles around. We decided that we liked it and on the way out we bought a season pass. Ate at NCI, went home, laid around for a while, cut the lawn then watched Secret Window.

Here’s my little review of Secret Window. When I watch a movie, I always take a day to digest it. Unless I know immediately that it sucks. Anyway, this movie didn’t suck, I actually kind of liked it. There was one big problem however. 20 minutes into the movie, Kelly nailed the ending. I mean absolutely nailed it. The second she said it, I knew she was right. So the rest of the movie we were just waiting to see it happen, or at least I was. It didn’t really ruin the movie, but it hurt it pretty bad. It did have a good ending though, which is the only thing that saved it in my opinion.

Loving the bikes still

June 25th, 2004 | Category: Play

Damn, these things are fun. We rode to Kels grandma and grandpa’s house yesterday. Then we stopped by my dad’s before heading home. Good times.

On the way home from work today, it started raining. We were going to Bonnies to play cards at 7, so we didn’t have time for a bike ride tonight. When I got home, Kel was already on the treadmill. She finished up, and I hopped on the treadmill. I love the first week of working out and eating right. You lose so much weight, it really feels like what you’re doing has an impact. When in actuality, the weight loss will stunt itself sometime next week. But after getting off the scale today after the treadmill run, I’m happier than I was yesterday. :)
And Saturday, we decided to go to Stoney Creek to ride around there. I’m totally excited. I need to get to the bike shop though, to pick up a new water bottle holder, and bottle before we go. I’ll go tomorrow after work. I was also thinking about putting together a little poker game tomorrow night, but I’m not sure yet. We’ll see…

Bike ride and my new shades

June 23rd, 2004 | Category: Fun

I rode my bike to my Dad’s house yesterday. It’s only a couple of miles, but it was fun. Going there seemed like I was going uphill the whole way because of how windy it was. Coming home was nothing. Cakewalk. I love my bike!

I picked up a pair of these:

Oakley Minutes. Pearl with Black Iridium lenses. And the best part, they were on sale! I’m such a bargain shopper.

A question for the masses

June 22nd, 2004 | Category: Ramblings of a Madman

How would one person gain 20 pounds in two months? Not trying of course. I mean someone who has watched their weight for a while now. Someone who busted their ass to lose 40 pounds by running several miles a day, EVERYDAY, for months. Someone like yours truly.

You want to know how to gain the weight back quick? It’s very easy to do. All you have to do is quit smoking. Son of a bitch. I quit smoking and started eating. I didn’t even know it was happening till it was too late. Now here I am, another uphill battle, back on the regiment. Eating right, working out, busting my ass to get back to where I should be.

The easiest solution would be to go get a pack of cigarettes. No one likes a quitter anyway. I told Kelly last night that I was half a step away from going and getting one. Here’s the problem. I don’t really want a cigarette. I have no real craving for one. I think about them, but deep down inside, nothing. So now I’m fucked. I can’t even turn back to smoking to help. 99% of the people I talked to said quitting smoking was great. They all lied. For those of you out there wanting to quit, let me give you some advise. Forget it. First you get the never ending cold. I’m STILL not sure if I’ve gotten rid of it. Everyone tells you that everything tastes better and smells better. Bullshit. The only thing that smells better, IS A GOD DAMN CIGARETTE! And now this weight gain crap. I tell you what, if I would have known then, what I know now, I wouldn’t have quit, I would have upped the intake!

For all the kids that read this site (read 0) smoking sucks. Had I not started in the first place, I wouldn’t be here like this now. It was the crappiest thing I could have started doing 14 years ago. If I could go back in time, I’d slap that little sucker right out of my own mouth. Keep that in mind.

But, that still doesn’t change the fact that the next person who says “you’re doing great” is getting the shit kicked out of them.

When will they learn?

June 21st, 2004 | Category: Fun

This is for you Survivor freaks out there. Do you remember Jenna? No, not the hot Jenna, the ugly one. Trust me, after you hear why, you’ll wish it was the hot one also. No, the one with the blonde hair that came in third place in Survivor All Stars? The one who said she was fine with not winning the money because she’s richer than ever now that she’s found a man and is getting married? (ahem..bullshit..ahem)
Jenna, along with so many other celebs (or semi celebs in her case), has become just the next person to make a sex tape and have it get out on the internet. Now, I’ve never made a sex tape. But if I did, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be dumb enough to let it get out on the internet. Unless it was with Elizabeth Hurley, then you guys could download it right here. But seriously, how stupid are these people? “Honey, make sure you put the money in the safe before the cleaning crew show up, but leave the homegrown porn we just made on the counter. Oh, and make sure you write PRIVATE SEX TAPE on it. That should ensure that no one messes with it”.
Let me recap. It’s in a hotel room at New York, New York hotel and casino in Vegas. It’s Jenna’s and her husband, who we’ll call Mr. Jenna, on their honeymoon. Anyway, Jenna and Mr. Jenna went a little crazy with the handicam. They do it all, and catch all the action on film. Wait…uh…..okay, sorry, thought I was going to puke….again. It’s like the Paris Hilton Video Part 2. And yes, for all you blind jackasses out there, Paris Hilton is NOT good looking. If you look past her pocket book, which I understand is hard to do, you will see nothing but an ugly skank. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either related to her, lying, or blind.
If you ask me, which you kind of are since you’re here reading this, I think these idiots deserve what they get. This is assuming that half of them didn’t let these tapes out on purpose, which I’m not too sure of yet. It seems that they pop out (Janet Jackson pun intended) at the most opportune times. Paris to promote a show, Jenna to stretch her 15 minutes to 15.02. Conspiracy theories are running wild around here!
If you’ll excuse me, I know the government is monitoring this as I type, and I don’t want to give them too much information.

Second Annual Fish and Scott Poker Invitational

June 21st, 2004 | Category: Poker

We had the game on Saturday. Once again Fish and I show how good we are at hosting these things. :P Everything went really well, and I think that everyone had a good time. Willie-Johnny-Bret-Stevie-Bobbie-Freddy-Al-Paulie-Phil took down the first game. Yes, that is all one guy. I don’t know why, but everytime I meet him, he has a new name. So I decided to go ahead and add some myself.

Anyway, he took down the first game showing that sometimes you need just one thing…luck. This guy was forced all-in more than once, and doubled up everytime. It was crazy. Fun to watch, although it had to suck to play against. Eventually took it down. Congrats dude with many names. (<—shorter than typing them all out)

Other winners on the night were Eric, Lil’ Rob, and myself. We played for quit a while. 5 games total. Some of us actually played for 12 hours straight. I rolled in about 6:15 Sunday morning. It was so early, I had to wear my sunglasses driving home. But it was a fun night. No issues, and everyone had a good time. Looking forward to the next one.

Let’s see

June 17th, 2004 | Category: Fun

I’m going to try this. This is a great picture. This is a picture that Ken’s buddy took at game 5 in the Palace. This is just after the final buzzer. I love it because it has the scoreboard AND the court in it. Great shot!

Anyway, I’m going to attempt to uplaod a thumbnail of this pic, instead of just posting the pic because it’s big. But I don’t want to reduce the quality. It’s such a good shot. So here goes….

EDIT
Sweet it worked. You can click on the image to get the full res picture if you like. You know whats cool, my Dad is for sure in this picture! I just cant pick him out of the crowd, lol. I know where his seats are, it’s just hard to pinpoint him. Anyway, enjoy!

PS
We just watched the end of the parade here at work. It was great when Bill Davidson got up to speak. He said that everyone said that the Lakers were a better team. The crowd started booing. Then he said, on live TV, “That’s Bullshit!” The crowd of course, went nuts. I just thought that was funny.
