PISTONS WIN THE NBA TITLE!!!!

The Pistons rolled over the Lakers tonight clinching the title at home! I’m FREAKING out!! I love it!! The Stones wrecked the Lakers 100-87, although the game wasn’t that close. Chauncey Billups wins the MVP trophy, and he should have. What a great series he had.

Way to go Stones, you guys deserve it!

Our new bikes!

June 14th, 2004 | Category: Play

Kel and I went out today and picked up a pair of mountain bikes! We talked about it for a while and decided it would be something fun for us to do together. Kelly picked up this bike:
navi3000.jpg

It’s a Trek Navigator 300. It’s one of their “comfort level” bikes. More for comfort than for offroad. Cool options though. The shifter is built in the grip, and you twist it to shift. She has an “accessory” bar on her handle bars, that has a computer chip built in. We bought this little unit that goes on the bar that tells the time, date, distance, all kinds of cool stuff.

Here is the bike I got:
trek.jpg

It’s a Trek 4500. More of a standard mountian bike. I wanted something that I could use both on and off road. I have the RockShox fork on the front. And teh shifter is a quick flip shifter. Downshift with your index finger, and upshift with your thumb underneath the handlebar. It’s very easy to go from gear to gear.

Both bikes have 24 gears. We also bought water bottle cages. The guy said they are aluminum but you could probably bend them in slightly to take regular water bottles. Well, I bent mine VERY slightly and broke the fucking thing. I had the bike like a minute, and I broke it. Nice job dickhead. So tomorrow I’m going to get another one, and a water bottle. Screw that messing with the cage crap.

We also picked up a bike rack for the trucks. So we can take our bikes up north, or wherever. Good times.

Pistons keep rollin!

June 14th, 2004 | Category: Fun

Well, Pistons win again last night and set themselves up for a clinching game 5 at home. WOW. I’m so excited. I called 5 games before the series started, and it looks like it might come true! My boss told me today that after I told him Pistons in 5 still after game 2, he would have put any amount of money on it that the Lakers would win. I’m trying to get tickets for game 5, but if not, no big deal, I’ll just watch it at home like I did the others.

It was a good weekend otherwise. Played some cards Friday night, SAturday I hung out with Billy. He stopped by on the way home because, and I quote, “Steve isn’t home right now, and the peice of shit is there, so I don’t want to go home”. LOL Some of you might know exactly what he’s referring to when he says “the peice of shit is there”. If you don’t, it’s funny. Although not my place to say, sorry. Then Sunday it was game night. I did get the front lawn cut, and my overhead LCD is finally completed. Although I was the one that completed the install at my Dad’s shop. But it looks great, and we used it at lunch today when Keko, Rodney and I watched Not Another Teen Movie. Good times

GO STONES!!!

June 11th, 2004 | Category: Uncategorized

Pistons beat the crap out of LA last night. WOW. What a game. The announcers finally gave the Stones some recognition. They even admitted that they were extremely bias. I believe the quote was “well, this time it’s not what LA isn’t doing, it’s what the Pistons are doing”. They just flat out wrecked LA. Theres nothing the Lakers can say, they were out-hussled, outplayed, and flat out out-classed…period.

2-1 series lead now for Detroit. GO GET EM’ PISTONS!!!

Overhead lovin’

June 10th, 2004 | Category: Auto

So I got my overhead LCD installed in my truck. Now the backseat can enjoy the DVD’s too! Well, the design for the casing moount was pretty terrible, and the shop tried to fab something that was better. I think it ended up a little worse off, so I went back to the shop today at lunch to drop off my car again. I’m picking it up after work, hopefully it will be good now. We’ll see….

Tough Loss

June 09th, 2004 | Category: Not Fun

What a game last night. The only thing that sucked about it was the ending. Man, up by 6 points with 40 seconds left, and you lose. That blows. The buzz now is, that the Stones won’t re-coup from a loss like that, and this series is over. I don’t necessarily agree with that. They’ve had games like this in every series so far, and each time they’ve come back the next game and took control. If the Pistons realize that what they did was take away home court advantage, and almost take a 2-0 lead with an overtime loss, I think they’ll bounce back just fine. They will re-adjust, and tomorrow will be a new game.

Seriously though, if I heard one more thing about Luke Walton I was going to kill someone. This is a kid that averaged 4 mintues in the playoffs. Why the hell were they talking about him like he was the second coming? Sure he had a big game, but get off his jock for Christs sake. I think the announcers went a little overboard when they said “The hotdog I just ate was the best hotdog I’ve ever had! And it was all because of Luke Walton!!”

All new Fear Factor…unless you saw it the first time

June 08th, 2004 | Category: Uncategorized

What?s up with that? NBC plays a commercial, just before Fear Factor last night saying that it’s all new. Then they play the episode, and I immediately noticed that it was a rerun. What kind of shit is that? I don’t mind if they play reruns, because that’s going to happen from time to time, but don’t friggin lie to me about it being new. Bastards.

I decided to create a list of shows that you just shouldn’t miss. You can take this list and add it to your TiVo. If you don’t have TiVo stop reading this right now, go get one and hook it up. It will change your life.

Here is what I consider, must see TV.

Fear Factor Everyone, and I mean everyone wants to watch other people eat live cockroaches. Those who say they don’t, are lying. Besides, as this concept grows stale, Joe Rogan tries to spruce up the show a bit, by giving the contestants more and more shit. One of these days, there will be a fistfight.
Reno 911 This show is hilarious. The new season starts tomorrow night. This is one of those shows, that will make you laugh out loud not only the first time, but the second time you see the same episode.
MXC What?s funnier than watching Japanese people on a game show that seems to be designed to hurt people? Nothing, that’s what.
WPT Come on, like this wouldn’t make my list. Everyone should watch this if only to listen to Vince Van Pattons stories about how he lost his ass at every casino that the tour visits.
The Sopranos You got to have some drama. There is only one season left. You know this is all anyone will be talking about next year. Don’t be left out, this is a fantastic show. Take this downtime to pick up the past seasons and catch up with what is going on.
Reality TV I’m not going to to in-depth into this new reality TV craze that has taken over the networks. Everyone has their own favorite reality show, or opinion on this genre of programming. I’m not really a fan of these shows, and I don’t watch many. I will say one thing though. If you want to make reality TV more interesting, bet on it. Put some money down on who you think will win, and I guarantee that it will spruce up the show for you.
Best Week Ever Just watch, you’ll laugh. I got to say, VH1 has been on a roll with their content lately. Good job VH1. Although I think a name change might be in order, you play less videos than MTV. And TRL doesn’t count, they only play 30 second clips of videos, what the fuck kind of crap is that??
TSS So I’m a geek. You surprised? After all, I have my own website, and you’re reading right now. Which is geekier, me keeping this site going, or you constantly returning to read it? Remember, people in glass houses….uh…should change in the basement? Anyway, TSS has changed since the G4/TTV thing, so I’m still on the fence about it. And the new time slot sucks. I think that G4 is trying to kill it.

[wicked witch voice]I hate you G4, and your little programming too[/wicked witch voice]

That will do it for now. There are notable shows that are pretty entertaining like Pimp My Ride, Viva La Bam, The Daily Show, Insomniac etc. I just don’t have the time to talk about all of them.

New poker rant for Sommers

June 07th, 2004 | Category: Ramblings of a Madman

I played cards Saturday night, until sometime Sunday morning. I think I rolled in around 6:15am. Long night. Fun though.

[sarcasm] Something odd happened, someone screwed up during one of the games, and I ended up getting screwed in the process[/sarcasm]

I think I’m a glutton for punishment, because every time someone screws up, I end up getting screwed over by it. Yet I’m still the one that continues to put these things together. Go figure.

What if I stopped calling everyone? What if I wasn’t the go between for all the fellas? What if I put away my chips, my table and my time? What if I didn’t set up games at the shop anymore? What if I didn’t update the leaderboard anymore, or host the results for that matter? Would anyone else? I’m all-in that MPT would die.

I got a call from someone last week and was asked “Are we going to play Friday night, or are we just not doing that anymore?” I had already talked to Fish about having a game during the weekend, so we did. But let me tell you, after getting asked that question, with the attitude I got when it was asked, I was this close to telling this guy off, and hanging up the phone. Let’s just say that he was just removed from my “to call” list for poker games. A list, mind you, that has almost shrunk into oblivion.

Monthly games are the way to go. We’ll play the monthly, $50.00 buy in games, and that will be enough. If it’s not, and the people used to me putting on several games during the month get pissy about not playing, then they can go play a rousing game of hide and go fuck themselves. Because the last thing I’m going to let continue, is this belief that I am somehow a lazy asses social director.

It’s not like I want a cookie for doing what I do. But this is what happens when you expect something, instead of appreciating it? You ruin it for everyone.

Pistons up in NBA finals!!

June 07th, 2004 | Category: Fun

Good weekend. Pistons won game one of the NBA finals last night, in LA! That was HUGE. We said it on Friday, if the Stones can score 85 points, they have a legitimate shot at winning this thing. LA hasn’t played that kind fo defense, and the Pistons havn’t faced such a non-defensive team yet. Don’t count LA out yet though, as my buddy Hotrod says, they’re professionals. They will adjust. And game two will be all together different. It better be for LA.

GO STONES!!!!
