Great Dilemma
“The coroner certified Stanwyk dead, or extremely sleepy”
Fletch or Caddy Shack? Both movies happen to be on right now. Personally, I went with Fletch. Why? Simple. More Chevy. It’s all about Chevy, and you know it.
But seriously folks, I love Fletch. It’s hilarious. Don’t get me wrong, Caddy Shack is great too, but in my mind, Fletch wins hands down.
“can I borrow your towel, my car just hit a water buffalo”
As a side note, I’m sitting here tyring to figure out who Alan Stanwyk is. As in, where else do I know him from. I got it. He’s Van Wilders dad. Man, that was bugging me.
2 commentsA reason to love, or hate, poker.
I realized that being a student of poker more than likely hurts me more than it help me. See I don’t mind being out played, but I hate losing to the numbers. What I mean by this is when I’m 95% to win a hand, it drives me crazy when I lose to that 5%. It shows that no matter how good you are, you can always lose to luck. This is where being a student of the game starts to suck. It makes studying the game useless, if only for that one hand. Once luck is involved, it doesn’t matter how much you know, or don’t know. If I was simply a casual poker player, and not someone that studies the game the way I do, I don’t think things like this would bother me.
This is what makes poker great, and a great game to hate.
Let me show you the roller coaster of emotions you go through in one hand, if you follow the numbers. This happened in a game that I played in recently.
I had: A,K of spades. I was all-in heads up against A,10 off suit. As of right now, here are the odds of this hand:
AKs 75% A10off 25%
Right now if you’re in my position you feel great. You have their over card covered which makes it a race between a King and a 10. I’ll take the King all day long. Here’s the flop:
7, 10, 2 rainbow (3 different suits)
Disaster! So far, we’ve been outdrawn. The numbers now look like this:
AKs 14% A10off 86%
Look at that swing! We just went from a 75% favorite, to a 14% underdog. But this hand gets better yet, here’s the turn card:
7, 10, 2, K
BAM! We hit the joker on the turn. We now have a pair of Kings over their pair of 10’s. Let’s look at the numbers again.
AKs 95.5% A10off 4.5%
That’s better. We started with a better hand, and now we’re back to where it should be. They have nothing but a 4.5% chance of out drawing us. They’re are reduced to needing one of the last two 10’s. Of course, we all know how this ends right, the river card was a 10 and they out drew us.
Now look at this rollercoaster. People who don’t pay attention to the numbers game don’t realize what just happened here. People who do, need a release. This is why I get all huffy when this happens. Because I was on that rollercoaster. This is what i mean by playing the numbers. Like everyone says, that’s poker. But when you know you are 95.5% to win a hand, and you lose to the 4.5% chance, it sucks. Maybe these things wouldn’t bother me so much if I didn’t know.
3 commentsOkay, so it’s up to me to figure this out
Some of you may remember a little while ago I had a bunch of tests done. What brought me to that point was an issue I had. An episode if you will. Vision issue. Anyway, when we started all the tests the doc told me that sometimes shit just happens, and you can’t explain it.
Well, today I had another one. This one was a little weird. It was longer, and it got real bad before it got better. The one good thing I noticed today though was that it wasn’t just on one side. It was both my eyes that were screwd up. I have no idea what the fuck is wrong with me, and hte worst part, I’ve already been tested for everything and they didn’t find anything.
6 commentsI’ve found it!!!
The apex of my wifes universe!! I’ve finally found the website, that HAD to have been designed just for her. Check it out:
WOW, there is someone else out there that like this stuff too babe!
2 commentsOne more thing
The worst part about this crap tonight is that Kelly and I could have gone up to Lake Orion to hang out with Mimi and Scott. They were hanging out at a lake riding their jet skis. Of course we couldn’t go becaue I had to be home at 7 for this game that I planned. We also had plans to go bike riding at Stoney Creek today. Again, I didn’t do that because of time. I’m so fucking pissed right now.
3 commentsOff the list.
I’ve just added a few new names to “never going to fucking call for poker” list. One person is off forever. The other two are off unless they come up with a VERY good fucking excuse for tonight.
How the hell is the person that asked me to put all this shit together, going to be the one that screws me over so the game doesn’t go off? Some nerve, even for a family member. You know, I remembered that certain people might be off of work now, so I thought I would put a little game together for them. All sounds great huh. Until they are the ones that don’t show up.
Well, this is the last time I put a game on for them. Period. They can put their own fucking games on, and I hope they do. So I can call and cancel on them one hour before the fucking game.
1 commentThe wheels I want….
What do you all think of these wheels? They’re Foose Spank 5’s. I’ve always loved Foose wheels. Plus Chip Foose is a badass hotrod builder. If you don’t know who he is, google him. It’s worth it.
Here are the wheels. 20″ chrome finish.
I can get these wheels, WITH tires for 1650 bucks. So, which of you loyal scottrouvalis.com readers want to give me the cash? Anyone? Hello? This thing on?
5 commentsWent and met Madeline yesterday!
Kel and I went to the Johnsons yesterday to meet baby Madeline. She’s adorable! She is definitely a Johnson as she looks like Clay. It’s funny, considering what she just went through, Meggan looked great. I asked her about the whole labor thingy and she said it wasn’t that bad at all. 22 hours, but the first half of that was spent at home, which I’m sure is easier then being at the hospital. They actually went to the hospital at 1:00am, but were sent home. The contractions were 2 minutes apart, but she wasn’t dialated enough. Something like that, I’m not a doctor. Anyway, Clay gave all the credit in the world to Meg. According to him, she was an absolute soldier during the whole thing. Good for her. That’s definitely something to be proud of.
We watched the video of just after the baby was born. No action shots, and to be honest after seeing the Miracle of Life video in junior high, I’m not interested in watching child birth again. Clay said it’s totally different when you’re there. He says your mind just doesn’t think like that. He still says that the whole thing happened so fast that you really don’t know what you were thinking at the time.
Another congratulations to them. They seem completely happy, which makes me completely happy for them.
PS
I didn’t hold the baby. She’s way to new and fragile. Although after watching the video of the nurses cleaning her, it seems that they don’t know that. They flung that kid around like a ragdoll. ![]()
