Ken Jennings
So I knew Ken Jennings was going to lose tonight. I knew that the answer he was going to miss, was H & R Block. Since I found that information out, I’ve had a hard time believing that this super nerd would get a question wrong when the answer is H & R Block. It seems too easy. Well, after watching Jeopardy tonight, I might believe the conspiracy theories that this was all fixed. It certainly looked like he was throwing the game.
It does make some sense when you think about it. Keep in mind that this is the tinfoil hat part of my brain talking, but lets say that Jeopardy’s ratings are in the crapper. How could you get people to watch the show? Give away the most money ever on TV. Have a guy, that seemingly knows everything, on the show long enough that eventually everyone around every water cooler has heard of him. Give these people a goal for him to shoot for…could he in fact win more money than anyone else on a game show? Tune in to find out. Then leave the guy on the show long enough for people to get bored watching him win, and start rumors that he is going to lose. Just AFTER he wins more than anyone else ever has. Cap all this off with a leak the day it happens, and show it every half hour until the time comes. Sit back, and enjoy the best ratings your aging game show has seen for a very long time.
Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m swayed by the fact that I am forced to watch Quizshow every day I have off. (I’ve posted about that phenomenon in the past, I swear that movie is on every time I have a day off) Or maybe these tinfoil hats really do make you think the man is out to get you. (takes off hat) Not that I believe this little theory that I have going on here. But it sure does sound possible doesn’t it? Hell, probable even.
(puts tinfoil hat back on)

It was fixed for sure, and for all the reasons you mentioned.
