Weekend update

Category: Fun

So, how was everyones weekend? Mine was okay. Waking up this morning with snow on the ground was a highlight, that’s for sure. For a second I thought that skiing would be right around the corner. Then it all melted. Oh well. We went to Elaines house today. It was their family Christmas and Kel wanted to give little Megan her Christmas present from her Godmother, of fairy godmother as Megan calls her. We were in and out of there quick though. Like holiday ninjas, as we wanted to leave before the madness of the gift opening started.

We watched Dodgeball yesterday. I don’t know why people hate that movie so much, it wasn’t that bad. I admit that Vince Vaughn saved the film. His monotone character countered Ben Stillers over the top reject character perfectly. Without having the Vince Vaughn character, I think Stillers would have been too much. As it is, it was entertaining enough. If you go in thinking that it’s going to be an ocsar winning movie, of course you’re going to be dissapointed. Go in thinking it’s going to be a campy, goofy film with modern day pratfalls, and stupid humor, and you will have fun.

Let me start by saying that I have never seen this flick. But how come this type of movie never wins an Oscar. Did you ever notice that it is always the same types of films that win all the Oscars. I mean come on it’s either an oversaes film, or a drama, thats it. Those are basicly the only types of films that win Oscars. Don’t get me wrong most of these films that win deserve it but shouldn’t there be a few more catagories? The acadamy shoul specify the award categories. Instead of best film of the year, it should be best drama of the year. Or maybee new categories like best piss poor toilet humor film of the year. Maybee best absolute worst film of the year. Or maybee best film with worst plot but best special effects film of the year. You get my point. And wouldn’t it be great if the Acadamy fucked with people really bad, like gave them awards for best movie and them took the back on stage and told them their movie was shit. That is how I would run things. All I’m trying to say is that the acadamy turns away from comedy films and it dosen’t seem right because a good comedy is s staple in the American film experience.

Clay, is that really how you think “maybe” is spelled? just curious…

Hey Kell, I consider my very bad spelling a sort of a personal handicap. And you know that other people don’t like people who make fun of handicaped people. Look at it this way, if everyone was as perfect a speller as you, you would no longer be the best speller on the planet. You would never have won any of those grade school spelling bee’s. And you would no longer sleep good at night knowing that you knew how to spell “maybe” and I did not.
