My Dad is out of surgery. He was under the knife for 7.5 hours. There were some complications. They knew that there could be though. Because of his last heart surgery 15 years ago, they ran into some scar tissue that slowed down the procedure. There was also a lot of bleeding that they had to deal with. The doctor did say that his heart started back up well, so that’s a good sign. As of right now, he’s still out cold and on a respirator. They will watch him now, and the next major hurdle is how he wakes up, and how easy the transition from the respirator to him breathing on his own is. They said he’ll probably start to wake up in the next couple of hours.

I forgot to add what they did. He got a triple bypass, and a pig valve put in for his valve that was bad. He also had a problem with his ascending aorta that they had to fix.

My Dad’s having heart surgery today. I’m off work, and Kel will be home soon and we’re going up to the hospital. I know everything will be fine. But it wouldn’t hurt to think happy thoughts for him.
