Go figure

“strange things are afoot at the Circle K”
I’m posting this from my desktop. Go figure. I fire it up today, and the damn thing works. So now I’m thinking heat issue. Whatever it was that made my CPU spike, and stay there, must have heated it up enough for the BIOS to shut it down. That would explain the partial post. Now I just have to look and see if I have ample cooling, or if this is going to be a problem. I’m at 29 degrees right now, which seems fine. I have a Zalman HSF that I bought when I got the processor.

I’ll just watch it and see what happens.

Small upgrade

February 17th, 2005 | Category: Fun

I was browsing the net the other day, and I hopped on Crucials website. (memory vendor) So I took a look at what a memory upgrade for my old laptop would cost. I was pleasantly suprised to find out that I could update my old rig for just 40 bucks. So I ordered another 256mb of ram. I probably should have added 512 to it, for a total of 768mb, but then it wouldn’t have been 40 bucks.

Crucials shipping times are great. I ordered the RAM day before yesterday, and got it today. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I popped open this laptop, as I’ve only opened up Dells before. Well thanks Toshiba, it was easy. The RAM slots aren’t hidden under the keyboard, like some laptops, there is a seperate cover on the bottom just for adding RAM. Popped it in, fired it up, and here you go.

Good times. This should make this laptop a lot better to work on. My dekstop is still dead, which blows because there was some Photoshop stuff I wanted to do, but I’ll get to that this weekend.
