Picked these up today. Two words: interchangeable lenses

The problem is that Oakley is currently sold out of the clear lenses. I’ll use the Black Uridiums for sunlight mountain biking, and clear for after dark. Well, as soon as they come in….and the snow melts….and…..

Plain and simple, best album. An album you can listen to, no matter what mood you’re in. An album where you don’t fast forward past any song, because they are all good. This is what the people at work had to say:

Alanis Morrisette-Jagged Little Pill
(2) Pearl Jam-10
Kenny Chesney-No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem
ICP-Riddlebox
Beastie Boys-Pauls Boutique
Def Leopard-Hysteria
Metallica-Enter Sandman
Bon Jovi-Slippery When Wet
Styx-The one with Sail Away on it (yeah, she’s a huge fan)
Nirvana-Nevermind
Matchbox Twenty-Yourself or Someone Like You
Van Halen-Balance
Snoop Dogg-Doggystyle
Foo Fighters-Color in the Shape
The Faint-The new one
Aerosmith-Get Your Wings

My pick is not up there, as I haven’t decided what it is yet. But looking at this list, what does it tell you?

It tells me that some people just don’t get it.

Movie: Saw

March 09th, 2005 | Category: Fun

Watched the movie Saw last night. Or rather, I saw Saw. I heard a lot of good things about this flick, so I was kind of excited to see it. I won’t “Eileen” this movie for anyone, but I will say that I didn’t really think it was that good. The movie was pretty good, but the last 20 minutes kind of killed it for me. The ending is what everyone talks about, and it’s pretty much the only reason that I didn’t like the flick. Well, there are a few other things that piss me off about it, but I can’t say without giving the movie away.

I will comment on the acting though. Cary Elwes was absolutely terrible. I don’t hate him as an actor at all, but he was so bad in this film that people that don’t even look for that kind of thing in movies will recognize it. It really was that bad of a performance. The movie was shot in only 18 days. Pretty cool. But also, pretty apparent. They could have used some extra takes on the particularly bad parts.

All in all, there was some cool things about this movie. But the ending just seemed lazy to me, enough to ruin what could have been a decent film. Maybe for Saw 2, which is already in pre-production, they should take a little longer to pop the movie out.

Sterling Heights cops have nothing going on

March 08th, 2005 | Category: Not Fun

So, we’re playing cards last night at the shop. A little quick throw together game. We were standing outside bs’n, and I noticed this car drive by real slow. As it was turning the corner it stopped for a second, then continued it’s turn. Joey turns to me and says “what was that about?” I don’t know, and we keep on talking. Well aparently whoever the lady was in teh car, thought we were breaking into the shop, because she called the cops.

Now, I’ve heard that there is a lot of stuff that happens in Sterling Heights, that we never hear about because they want to keep their “safe city” image. I don’t know about that. What I do know is that last night there wasn’t shit going on because the entire god damn police force showed up thinking there was a B and E going on. All of a sudden, we were surrounded. I walked over to tell the cop that we were just playing cards….just like every other time they showed up shining their lights in my face. The one cop was cool, looked like a rookie, but there is always the older, pissed off that he’s still a beat cop, cop. And of course, he showed up trying to be a bad ass yelling “what the hell are you guys doing here?” being all loud and shit. Of course, they were disappointed when they found out they didn’t get to use thier guns against us, since we weren’t doing anything wrong.

The one cop said “you should be glad that we come here to check things out”. I said, “honestly, I am. I know that there used to be a bunch of shit that went down around here, and I’m glad that the cops are watching the place. It’s just that every other time I’m here, I get 8 cop cars showing up busting my balls about who I am. And it’s the same cops I talk to each time. You would think they would remember, lol.”

(sigh)

“worth my wild”

Is it worth your wild? Look, if you’re going to use a phrase like this, at some point in your life, maybe you should check to make sure you’re saying it correctly.

Monday, Monday….

Today has been an interesting Monday so far. I was off Friday, and two people were termed that day. I knew it was coming, I just didn’t know when, so I was sort of suprised. One of the two suprised me a lot more than the other. Although, knowing what I know now, I guess it shouldn’t have. Anyway, taking in account recent events, I guess it’s an okay Monday.

Chicago show, day two.

March 05th, 2005 | Category: Fun

Today we woke up a little late. We ended up going to breakfast around 11:30-12:00. Although, in my defense, I woke up at 2:30am, for no good god damn reason, and was wide awake. I actually slept like shit last night. Tossed and turned all night. Then, just to make it that much worse, the alarm was set for 6:30am from whoever stayed in the room last.

Okay, that last part was pretty funny. So I set the alarm to go off at 4:37am. He he.

We blew through the remainder of the show pretty quickly. We went directly to the booths we needed to see again from yesterday, then we walked the rest of the show. I’m not sure if it was a good thing or not, but we walked a bunch of the show yesterday. That left us with very little that we had to do today, but that also meant that my Dad is really tired. I think that he did too much yesterday. He was fine while we were doing it, but he’s beat today.

That’s okay though. We’re done, and we’re packing up to leave. We wanted to get on the road by 4, but we missed that mark. So we’re off now, and should be home by 11.

I’m in Chicago

March 04th, 2005 | Category: Fun

Well this worked out pretty well. I’m sitting in my hotel, I turn on my laptop, and sure as shit, it finds a wireless network. Good times.

So anyway, we made pretty good time coming in today, only a little slow down around the Chicago loop. Which is to be expected since we hit it around lunch time. Checked in, watched the end of Memphis Belle, then went and walked the show. Part of it at least. We got a lot done today, and Pops did really well. We only had to take a couple of breaks here and there. He was a soldier.

The show is cool as always. We haven’t gone into the dark room yet, to see all the cool new halloween attractions, we’ll do that tomorrow. So just the party side and some of the halloween side today. We hit a few of the vendors we needed to see, and saw the guy that my Dad gets his poker supplies from. Oh yeah, we also saw a guy that makes poker tables. I found one I want…BAD. It’s 400 bucks, custom made for me. It’s so bad ass. Maybe I’ll score one eventually.

Anyway, enough for now, I’m going to head down to the vending machines to see if they carry Red Bull. My bet, not a chance.
