I played in a WSOP satellite tournament yesterday. 1st and 2nd place win a 12,000 prize package which includes a 10,000 buy in to the main event of the World Series of Poker. There was 167 people in the tournament.

After the second break, I was 7th overall in chips with only 32 people left. I was in middle position and someone in early position raised 2500 into a $500 blind. I had pocket kings. I had already decided that I was going to raise anyone that moved on this pot, all in. So I did.

I had over 15k in chips. I re-raised the pot all in, and everyone folded to the original raiser. Who called with his 13k in chips. I showed my kings, and he had pocket jacks. I can barely ask for a better situation. I’m a 4-1 favorite to win this pot, which would also give me the overall chip lead in the tournament with only 25 players left. That’s huge.

Well as you can probably guess, he flopped a jack. 4-1 dog, and he flops a fucking jack. I ended up busting out of the tournament in 26th place out of 167. Man, it sucked. I take that pot down like I should have, and I can sit back, not play another hand, and land in the money. So today I start down that road again. It takes two tourney wins to qualify for that one, so I have to start all over. The next WSOP satellite is Sunday, so I have 6 days to qualify.
