Update, UPDATE, UPDATE!!!
How’s it going? I’ve been really lazy with posting lately. Sorry, just got a bunch of shit going on.
As some of you regular readers know, I post a movie poll on Halloween every year, where I ask the people I work with what the best scary movie is. It actually started as a reference to the movie Scream, which was great, but that’s not the point. Yesterday we were upgrading our servers hard drive space, so we had a lot of down time around the office. So I started a new office poll: “What are the top three movies of all time?”
Right off the bat, there was some confusion as to whether or not they should give me the best movies, or just their three favorites. I told them it was up to them. Maybe I should have specified that I was looking for good movies only. I mean, some of these movies….they must be kidding right? Sadly, this is a serious list, and a list of movies that the people I work with consider “great”. (frightening)
I told everyone that I was posting their name next to their picks. After hearing some of the movies mentioned, it had to be that way. So here you go:
Rodney: Warriors, Beat Street, Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Rodney loves The Warriors. It is a classic cult movie. He’s an old school breaker, and a…uh….well I’m sure you can imagine why he loves Fast Times. His dog is named Spicolli for Gods sake. So his list was no surprise.
Chris: Shawshank Redemption, Ferris Buellers Day Off, Bring it On.
Okay, Shawshank I get. Ferris Buellers I get, she went a little old school with that one with a timeless classic. Bring it on? Seriously? WTF?
Leonard: Sound of Music, Flatliners.
He only gave me two movies. Talk about range, jeez. These selections look like a schitzofrentics.
Kim: A Time to Kill, The Punisher (Thomas Jane version), Pay it Forward
Keep in mind that Days of Thunder was on her list, before I made fun of her so bad that she changed it.
Ken: Goodfellas, Cable Guy, Fletch
Now, I appreciate Fletch as an answer, as it was a great comedy. I also think he was spot on with Goodfellas, as it was a great movie also. But then he went and said Cable Guy. Which, if I may be frank, fucking sucked.
Miguel: Man on Fire, Dumb and Dumber, Rocky
Actually not that bad of a selection. I wouldn’t put these at the top of my list, but nothing really stands out as a movie that shouldn’t be here.
Fish: Major League, Hoosiers, Old School
BLUE YOU’RE MY BOY!
Wendy Gone in 60 Seconds, Van Wilder
Wendy could also only give me two choices. She explained that movies that made her want to be what they were portraying was her motivating factor for her list. After seeing Gone in 60 Seconds, she wanted to be a car thief like they were in the movie. Let’s just hope it wasn’t the doughnut scene in Van Wilder that inspired her.
Phil: Lord of the Rings (he said any, I’ll choose ROTK as I think it was the best), Raiders of the Lost Ark
Yet another two choice list. Can you tell who likes Sci Fi?
Holly: The Patriot, A Time to Kill, Pearl Harbor
I refuse to believe that The Patriot was better than Braveheart. It simply wasn’t, and I don’t care what Holly says. ![]()
Peck: Se7en, Schinlders List
Again, only two. Was this really that hard? The fact that Se7en made the list makes me happy. I absolutely loved that movie, and the way it was done. My favorite part of that flick is that the whole movie is rainy and shitty while they are looking for the killer, and at the end when they have him, and leading up to that GREAT scene in the desert, it’s the only time the sun is shining. I loved that.
So there it is. My office movie poll. Looking at some of those movies, it kind of makes you sick to see what made the list. But then again, it was a poll asking someones opinion, and who’s to say someones opinion is wrong.
Me.
Some of those movies fucking blow.
