So you think you can sing…with the stars

August 30th, 2006 | Category: Fun, Rants

Normally, I’m an absolute sucker for a reality/competition type show. It’s not that I plan my schedule around them, but if I happen to catch part of one on TV, I get sucked in real easy.

Kel and I watch a few shows religiously. Crimial Minds is one. I can’t wait for that premier! Did Elle get shot in the face? We’ll find out next month! As most of you know, we have a Survivor pool going for every season, so that’s another one we watch. Anyway, the only other show we were stuck on this last season was, So You Think You Can Dance. We watched an entire season of that show for the first time. We had a good time watching that (contemporary isn’t really dancing, it’s fake, just run around the stage waiving your arms like your having a seizure and you got it).

We also watched an entire season of American Idol for the first time. With the popularity of that show, I have to deduce that we just happen to watch a crappy season because overall, that show sucked. I always said that it wasn’t very good after the idiots are done trying out, but I never actaully watched any of the episodes. I think for the next season, we’ll just watch the retards during the first few weeks again. Once they get the talent together, total garbage.

Right now we are between shows. So last night we decided to watch “Duets” which is a show where B-list celebrities get paired up with singers for a kareoke type show. If you didn’t watch it last night….well….good for you. Man, that show sucked. What a piece of crap that was. The only good thing about it was…wait, nothing. Wayne Brady was funny at times, when he wasn’t kissing the celebs asses. It’s a good thing poker is on Sunday’s, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays now. Gives me something to watch.

Picture sharing

August 26th, 2006 | Category: Fun

I must admit, when it comes to sitting down and going through old pictures to take a trip down memory lane, I’m the last person you want sitting with you. There are two reasons for this.

For one, I don’t like looking through old pics. It’s just not my thing. I don’t know why, I just don’t enjoy doing it.

The second reason, and this is more important for all of your readers is, I might come across an old pic of you, and post it on my website for everyone to see. Should I be blamed for this? I say no. If anything, blame my wife. Had she not brought out these pics, this never would have happened.

To one of my loyal readers, I say to you simply….

Nice turtleneck.

Look for the song “Hey Leonardo” by Blessed Union of Souls. Don’t play dumb, you for sure have it on there. I won’t judge you.

Anyway,
Right near the beginning, listen to when he says “she likes me for me, not because I look like Tyson Beckford, with the charm of Robert Redford oozing out my ears. And what she sees, are my ____”

I swear he says “balls” there.

Kelli’s Wedding

August 18th, 2006 | Category: Fun

Kel’s friend Kelli…wait….yeah, that’s right. Kel’s friend Kelli is getting married today. My wife Kelly, which I will refer to as MyKel for the remainder of this message to avoid confusion, is standing up in the wedding.

So MyKel has the day off today. Her and Kelli are going to get their hair “did”, and whatever else it is that chicks do on their wedding day.

I won’t be able to make it to the ceremony today, because of work, but I hear the place they’re getting married at is really nice. As a matter of fact, two of the people that I work with got married there also. It just so happens that they married eachother. I am going to the reception tonight though.

Normally, I don’t like weddings/receptions. I’m not anti-social or anything (actually, I am)but I’m also not a big drinker and if you’re not a big drinker, watching other people get smashed is not only boring, it’s flat out annoying. However, I’m actually looking forward to tonight. A bunch of people I work with are going, and they happen to be people I like! w00t! Besides, I’ve known Kelli forever and I wouldn’t miss her wedding.

So, Kelli and Chip, enjoy today. Have a great day, and I’ll see you guys tonight at the reception.

Hi

August 11th, 2006 | Category: Work

Hi. I’m back in town now.

Louisville was cool. We didn’t really get to go sight seeing or anything, and actually ended up up busting our ass the whole time we were there. We worked about 46 hours in the three days we were there, so needless to say I’m pretty damn tired having to come back to work after getting in around midnight.

I don’t know if I mentioned why I was going down there. We are setting up a satellite office down there, for industrial sales. We needed to get them connected to our system, set a bunch of processess for converting their old customers and vendors (the new employees are all from the same company), and get them working on our software. The whole time there, they all thought I was in IT. That’s all I told them, because I didn’t want them probing me for information about our company. That’s not my gig, and if they new my title I know they would have. Actually, one of the guys did ask me about sales totals to which I replied that I didn’t know. He got the hint, and left me alone after that.

So, about the trip.

Let’s see, the drive pretty much sucked balls. Although I can’t imagine a 6 hour drive anywhere NOT sucking balls, so that was expected. Man, Ohio is the worst state to drive through. That trip down I-75 through northern Ohio is terrible. Once you get to Dayton though, the scenery get’s better, and riving through Cincy and the border there with Kentucky was cool.

So we got down to Louisville and the location and waited for the guys to meet us at the building to let us in. After going into work at 7:30 that morning, leaving for Louisville at 1, and arriving there at 7, the only thing on my mind was working another 5-6 hours.

Okay, that’s not entirely true, that’s just what actually friggin happened. At the end of that hellacious day, it was off to find a hotel room after midnight. Ken said to me “what are we going to do about the room we get, and the arrangements” to which I replied “that’s easy, I’m going to get my own room, and you can do whatever you want in yours”.

So I got in my hotel room at the Hilton around 1ish and finally crashed out for the night.

Wake up and get to work at 8 the next morning, and work non-stop till about 7:30 when we left to go to Ruth’s Chris for dinner. The restaurant was on top of an office building hi-rise and had a great view of down town Louisville, albeit from far away. We met Jim (my boss that flew down that day) and Mark and Aaron Mivelaz who are running the satellite office. It was a nice dinner, and a lot of conversation about the direction of their office and how we we’re going to approach this new venture. The dinner ran a little late, and after driving Jim to his hotel, Ken and I were once again pretty damn tired by the time we got back to ours. So, it was hit the room, and crash again.

6:45am came real quick the next day. We were going to meet a bunch of the new employees, so we said we would be in at 7:30am. Since Ken and I were the last to leave the building the night before, we had a key to lock up. When we picked up Jim at 7:15, we debated whether or not to get some breakfast, or to just go in. We decided to go in, and it’s a good thing too. When we arrived at the new building, everyone was standing in the parking lot. Yeah, turns out, we had the only key, lol. We laughed at the possibilty of everyone standning in the parking lot, on that muggy-ass morning, while we ate breakfast.

That day Ken worked on connectivity in the office, and I trained the new employees on our system. It was more of just showing it to them, since it is a lot of information to take in at once. I’ll officially train them when I go back in a few weeks. We worked until just after 6pm, when we hopped back on the road to head home. The ride home seemed shorter then the ride down. I think it’s because we are seeing landmarks that look familiar to us now. They way down, we were flying blind.

Got home about midnight, and got up at 6:30am to go to work.

It’s been a long week, and I’m ready for the weekend. As luck would have it, I promised my Dad I would help him out this Saturday, lol. He only asks me a few times to help him out, but what timing. It’s not a hard job, or long day or anything, it’s just a little funny how that worked out.

Loiusville, KY

August 07th, 2006 | Category: Work

I’m going to Louisville, KY today. Yipee.

Ken and I have to drive down there for work. We will have 3 days to take a brand new, empty building, and turn it into a working office that is connected to our server here, with trained employees. Should be a snap (he he..HA HA..MUHAHAHAHAHAHA…..yeah, no fuckin way)
