Mom’s knee surgery

September 29th, 2006 | Category: Fun

So, my Mom’s in the hospital. She had knee replacement surgery on Tuesday night. The doctor told us that she was in a lot of pain after the surgery, and that on Wednesday she would be just as bad. He said that the first day is really bad, but after that it would get better.

We went there on Wednesday, and much to our surprise, she wasn’t doing that bad. When we got there she was sitting up, reading the menu. She said that somewhere in the middle of the night, they got her medication right and she felt much better. It appears that Percocet is the way to go. So they had her on a machine that moves her leg, and walking around a little.

Yesterday, we figured would be the bad day, since she was getting all her tubes out and stuff. Again, we get there yesterday, and she’s up and chatting away. While we were there, we went for a walk down the hall. It was great.

Now, this doesn’t mean that she’s fine, but she’s doing really well. So well that we think she’s going home today instead of tomorrow. Good stuff.

Monday

September 25th, 2006 | Category: Not Fun

Had a tough time getting up this morning. I had a rough weekend. Friday night we played poker until around 5:00am. Got home around 5:30, and was up and out the door by 10:00am on Saturday to go set up for Rons birthday party.

We set up the FOP hall with a bunch of Hawiian decorations for a luau. We had an hour to go home and change, then get back to the party before the guests started to arrive. It was a good time though.

Then, we started to tear it down around 8ish, and I left at 9ish to take Joey home. Then back to my house around 10:20pm just in time to rewind and watch the UFC pay per view. Matt Hughes vs. B.J. Penn. GREAT fight, but then I didn’t get to bed untill after 1:00am. Then it was up and at em’ at 10:00am again to go tear the rest of the Hawiian stuff down, and unload it at my Dads shop. Then home to watch football, and work on a friends computer for her. Grief with the comptuer lasted untill I just stopped working on it around 11pm, and I went to bed within an hour later.

Up at 6:30am, and here I am.

I need a weekend, to recover from the weekend.

Criminal Minds!

September 21st, 2006 | Category: Fun

Tell me you all watched the premier last night. Gosh dang, that’s the best show on TV. When it was over, Kel and I were both sad. Elle DID get shot in the face! (well, somewhere) She’s okay now though.

That was just a kick ass episode. I can’t wait for the rest of the season. Good stuff.

This is a turn around year for the Lions….

September 18th, 2006 | Category: Fun

Wait…no it’s not. They still suck just as bad as they have over the past few years. Nice job on that garauntee’d win there Roy. Personally, I loved that game. I stopped being a Lions fan a few years ago. I wrote them off as my team. I’m not interested in rooting for a team that does nothing but make horrible decisions time after time. Yet, the Lion faithfull still sell out every game in the hopes that one day this team will truely turn it around. Why should they? People still buy tickets and go to the games. So why should the team get any better? Hurt the ticket sales, that’s the only way to get them to change.

I feel bad for people like my buddy Fish. He has season tickets. So what do you do? Going to the games sucks to watch them lose over and over again, but you cant get rid of your tickets because you lose your seniority. It’s a shitty situation to be in. It’s not like with every losing season, the ticket prices are going down. If that was the case, they would be free. Cut and run. That’s what I would do. I’m 30 years old, and I’m fairly positive that I’ll never see the Lions win a championship in my lifetime.

For the 4th year in a row, I bet someone that the Lions would have a shitty record. (each year the bets been a little different) This year it was $50 that they wouldn’t win 7 games. I gave that guy the option to buy out his bet early for $20 two weekas ago. He declined that offer. This morning, he offered $30 to end his misery. I took it.

This coming weekend, I’m pulling for Green Bay. Let’s let Detroit be 0-3 in the division. They deserve it. Garbage team.

Dancing with the “Liars”

September 16th, 2006 | Category: Rants

So, last week was the premier of the show Dancing with the Stars. I watched the whole episode. Two things I realised from this. One, that show sucks. Bad. Two, Mario Lopez is a god damn liar.

He comes right out and says that he’s never had any dance training at all, and that this is all new to him. Um…hello liar, did you forget that you were on a show called Saved by the Bell? We all saw you dance on that show a hundred times. Why would he even try to bullshit everyone? He’s on film dancing for Christ sake.

Then you have Joey Lawrence trying to pull the same shit. He says he hasn’t danced since he was 7. Umm, you had like 2 music videos dumbass. WTF is wrong with these idiots?

Not that I care, because the show does actually suck quit a bit, but I hope Emmit Smith wins. At least he hasn’t flat out lied to everyone.
