PCOL update

October 16th, 2006 | Category: Fun

I got a phone call from PCOL last Friday. My chips are done, and shipping out. About an hour later, I received an email with my tracking number. According to UPS.com, my chips will be here on Wednesday.

We’ll see if they’re worth the wait.

I’m such a slacker, Tigers, Lions, UFC, Sporgy weekend!

October 16th, 2006 | Category: Fun

No posts in forever. Sorry.

Hey, I said I was sorry, lighten up, I’ve been busy.

Let’s see here, it was a pretty good sports weekend for Detroit. The Tigers swept the A’s, and are going to the World Series. That’s pretty cool.

I was never a big Tigers fan. I actually haven’t sat down to watch a baseball game in probably 20 years. I always thought they were more boring then golf. (more boring? boring-er? more boring-er?) Anyway, turns out, I was kind of half right. Baseball is still pretty boring to watch on TV. I found that if you are doing something else, along with watching the game, it helps quit a bit. So I sit in front of the TV with my sketch pad, and I can make it through a game. I will say that these last few games haven’t been terribly difficult to get through. They’ve been pretty exciting actually. I mean, bottom of the ninth, 2 outs, winning run in scoring position, you can’t script it much better then that. Of course, a base hit would have won it, the homerun was just showing off. It was fun to see though, and it’s pretty cool to see the Tigers in the World Series. I was 7 the last time they were there, but I actually do remember sitting in the living room watching the game when they won it. Good stuff. (that might be the last full game I’ve seen before this season)

Then you have the Lions this weekend. They finally won a game. Is this a good thing? No way. I wanted them to go 0-16 soooo bad. See, with the Tigers, I’m just not a baseball fan. I don’t hate the team or anything, I just don’t follow it. I love football though, and watch it every time it’s on, no matter who’s playing. Am I a Detroit Lions fan? Quit the opposite in fact. I can’t stand the Lions. I think the entire organization is crap. They’re terrible. The draft like shit, they hire like shit, they do everything like shit. They have Roy Williams which is the ONLY good thing they’ve done in the past few years. The line sucks, on both sides of the ball, the defense is garbage, the offence plays an entire game, just to completely breakdown in the 4th and to solidify that happens, they put the choke artist himself, John Kitna at the helm.

I was actually disappointed when they won. I was rooting for Bufffalo so bad to come back and score. When Kitna threw that interception with 8 minutes left in the game, I thought “YES!”, this is the breakdown I was waiting for. However, some how, they managed to fall backwards and land in a victory. What’s that saying, the sun shines on a dogs ass every once in a while? That sums up that game for Detroit. Lucky sons of bitches. This coming weekend, I’m forced to be a Jets fan because they’re playing Detroit. Normally, I don’t like the Jets. this weekend though, it’s go J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!!

On to the UFC.
I rented the PPVon Saturday night, as I do every month it seems like. Joey and Clay came over to watch the fights on our new TV. (I’ll post about this later) We watched the PPV, which was pretty good. Rich Franklin, who was the middleweight champion, and who had dominated everyone he has come in contact with, was fighting Anderson Silva for the title. Silva has a good reputation, but has only had one UFC fight, so there was some talk about whether or not he deserved a title fight. Well, after that performance Saturday, I think the doubt is gone. Silva DESTROYED franklin. Bad. It was ugly. Franklins nose was broken worse than anything I’ve ever seen before. It’s hard to explain, but it was brutal.

After the fights were over, we decided to play some cards. We played Hold em’, .25/.50 no limit. We started playing at 1am and they left to go home around 8am. It was a long night, but a lot of fun. I got 3-4 hours of sleep that morning, but Clay and Joey didn’t get any. I think that I probably hurt myself more then helped myself by taking those few hours, because I hit a wall about 6ish last night, and was pretty much useless after that. Clay and Joey said they were okay last evening, so I’m thinking next time, I’ll just stay up.
