I’m such a slacker, Tigers, Lions, UFC, Sporgy weekend!

October 16th, 2006 | Category: Fun

No posts in forever. Sorry.

Hey, I said I was sorry, lighten up, I’ve been busy.

Let’s see here, it was a pretty good sports weekend for Detroit. The Tigers swept the A’s, and are going to the World Series. That’s pretty cool.

I was never a big Tigers fan. I actually haven’t sat down to watch a baseball game in probably 20 years. I always thought they were more boring then golf. (more boring? boring-er? more boring-er?) Anyway, turns out, I was kind of half right. Baseball is still pretty boring to watch on TV. I found that if you are doing something else, along with watching the game, it helps quit a bit. So I sit in front of the TV with my sketch pad, and I can make it through a game. I will say that these last few games haven’t been terribly difficult to get through. They’ve been pretty exciting actually. I mean, bottom of the ninth, 2 outs, winning run in scoring position, you can’t script it much better then that. Of course, a base hit would have won it, the homerun was just showing off. It was fun to see though, and it’s pretty cool to see the Tigers in the World Series. I was 7 the last time they were there, but I actually do remember sitting in the living room watching the game when they won it. Good stuff. (that might be the last full game I’ve seen before this season)

Then you have the Lions this weekend. They finally won a game. Is this a good thing? No way. I wanted them to go 0-16 soooo bad. See, with the Tigers, I’m just not a baseball fan. I don’t hate the team or anything, I just don’t follow it. I love football though, and watch it every time it’s on, no matter who’s playing. Am I a Detroit Lions fan? Quit the opposite in fact. I can’t stand the Lions. I think the entire organization is crap. They’re terrible. The draft like shit, they hire like shit, they do everything like shit. They have Roy Williams which is the ONLY good thing they’ve done in the past few years. The line sucks, on both sides of the ball, the defense is garbage, the offence plays an entire game, just to completely breakdown in the 4th and to solidify that happens, they put the choke artist himself, John Kitna at the helm.

I was actually disappointed when they won. I was rooting for Bufffalo so bad to come back and score. When Kitna threw that interception with 8 minutes left in the game, I thought “YES!”, this is the breakdown I was waiting for. However, some how, they managed to fall backwards and land in a victory. What’s that saying, the sun shines on a dogs ass every once in a while? That sums up that game for Detroit. Lucky sons of bitches. This coming weekend, I’m forced to be a Jets fan because they’re playing Detroit. Normally, I don’t like the Jets. this weekend though, it’s go J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!!

On to the UFC.
I rented the PPVon Saturday night, as I do every month it seems like. Joey and Clay came over to watch the fights on our new TV. (I’ll post about this later) We watched the PPV, which was pretty good. Rich Franklin, who was the middleweight champion, and who had dominated everyone he has come in contact with, was fighting Anderson Silva for the title. Silva has a good reputation, but has only had one UFC fight, so there was some talk about whether or not he deserved a title fight. Well, after that performance Saturday, I think the doubt is gone. Silva DESTROYED franklin. Bad. It was ugly. Franklins nose was broken worse than anything I’ve ever seen before. It’s hard to explain, but it was brutal.

After the fights were over, we decided to play some cards. We played Hold em’, .25/.50 no limit. We started playing at 1am and they left to go home around 8am. It was a long night, but a lot of fun. I got 3-4 hours of sleep that morning, but Clay and Joey didn’t get any. I think that I probably hurt myself more then helped myself by taking those few hours, because I hit a wall about 6ish last night, and was pretty much useless after that. Clay and Joey said they were okay last evening, so I’m thinking next time, I’ll just stay up.

For Sale: 2006′ Suzuki GSXR 1000

Price: $10,000
This bike is perfect! It has 1,000 miles and has had its 500 mile dealer service.
It’s been ridden only by an adult . All wheels have always been on the ground. I use it as a cruiser/commuter. I’m selling it because it was purchased without the “proper consent” of a loving wife. Apparently, “do whatever the f*** you want” doesn’t mean what I thought it did.

PCOL

October 02nd, 2006 | Category: Not Fun

So here’s a good question for ya.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. I ordered some custom poker chips from a vendor online. This company had a good reputation with all the other chip-geeks on chiptalk, which is a site I frequent.

Here’s the story. PCOL is a company that offers custom chips to the public. These are compression molded clay chips, just like the casinos use. Real clay, not that 11.5 gram injection molded plastic crap that people on ebay try to sell as clay.

PCOL offers a bunch of different colors for the body of the chips, and they offer one type of edge spot pattern. The pattern is 312, meaning 3 spots, half inch wide each. You get the body color, then the spot color choice, and that’s all.

They decided to do a special sale. They were going to offer a bunch of different edge spot combinations and colors that they never offered the public before. So I decided to place an order to get in, so I could have these edges in the future. I placed my order in April, and approved the artwork on May 2nd. I was quoted 10-12 weeks delivery time from that date.

Well here we are, 21 weeks later, and I still don’t have any chips. Here is the timeline:

May 2nd, artwork approval and 10-12 week delivery time
July 15th, emailed for progress and was told last week in July for shipping. Was also told to be patient.
August 1st, my credit card was charged and the bill was paid in full. Contacted them on August third for status and was told that my order was just put into production and it would be 4-6 weeks from then. I was told that other order were completed ahead of mine due to material shortages on the colors I chose, but that I should get it by the end of September.
Sept 25 again I had to contact them for an update. I was told that some of my chips had to be redone so they didn’t make their truck on Friday. They were redoing them now, and that she didn’t think they would get shipped that week, but probably next week.

That brings us to now. At first, I was thinking that I’m at the point of no return with these chips. I’ve waited so long, that it wouldn’t make sense to cancel now. The more I think about what has gone down, the more pissed I get at the shitty service and missed delivery times. Everytime I got an update from them, I had to initiate the contact. They were never proactive in giving me any information as to what was going on with my order.

There is a reason for all of this. Well, it could be an excuse. The company got a lot of orders from this special offer. It appears that they got a lot more then they thought they would get. So much so, that it backed them up. They also had a large casino order come in, while all this was going on. Casino orders take precedence over home orders, so our orders were pushed back even more. So this is the standard response to shitty delivery times. The problem is, people on chiptalk have posted how they got their orders rushed through, while others got fucked over. (like me) These stories just piss me off even more about the whole thing.

So, it’s October 2nd. I still don’t have any chips yet. No idea if they are shipping this week or not. I paid for these, in full, on August 1st, over tow months ago. I have no clue if they are even made, since I can barely trust what I’ve been told to this point.

I kind of came up with this thought: If my chips don’t ship by Friday, I’m cancelling the order and disputing the charge on my credit card as fraudulent since I never recieved the items I paid for. I’ve just had it with this whole thing.

What would you do?
