Movies, movies, movies
Happy belated Independence Day to everyone! Last Monday was a Ford holiday, and Wednesday was the actual holiday, so we had Mon, Tue, Wed off this week. Yes, we are still at work, although none of us know for how long.
Anyway, with all this time off, I had a ton of time to get caught up on some movies I wanted to see. Over the past 3 days I’ve seen Disturbia, Vacancy, Reno 911 (finally), 1408, Live Free or Die Hard and Transformers. Disturbia was a fun movie. Not scary or anything, but a fun movie anyway. Don’t go in expecting an oscar winner, and you should be fine. Vacancy was kind of the same way. Entertaining, just not at all scary. It was also really, really short. Like 1 hour and 20 minutes short. Which was really refreshing actually. Reno 911 was sort of a let down though. There were a few funny parts that were really funny, just not enough of them. Kel and I both think the regular show is funnier. Sometimes it’s better to get *bleeped* then to actually hear what they’re saying. 1408 was great though. We both loved it. I was a little leary going in, simply because I can’t remember the last good movie from a Steve King book, but since we both like John Cusack we figured we’d give it a shot. I’m glad we did. What a fun movie. Again, it’s not exactly scary, but what is now-a-days? A few scenes will make jump though, and overall it was just a cool flick. Live Free or Die Hard could be the best Die Hard movie to date! Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but it’s easily better then Part 2 or 3. Maybe not as good as the first one….but close. I loved it! It had the buddy cop-ness going for it, and a great storyline built around really cool technology and some Die Hard-esque over the top action scenes that were fun as hell. Go see this one, it’s worth the price of admission. Transformers was one that the geek in me was a little worried about. A year ago when I started to see screen shots and leaked caps of this movie, I was torn on what I thought about them. First, none of the transformers looked right. They didn’t look like the originals. Would it have been that hard to make Jazz a Porsche, or Bumblebee a VW? I thought that I would just be picking out all the things that were different, while I was watching the movie. I was wrong. This movie rocked! I didn’t mind the updated look at all. They could have made them the same colors as the original though. For example, Ratchet was an ambulance originally. In the new movie, he’s a Rescue Hummer. If they would have made him white and red like the original, that would have been cool. But that’s jut nit-picking. The movie was great. I’d for sure go see it again, and probably will.
