Forever since an update
Man, I’ve been busy lately. Work has been nuts, and it’s not letting up…at least in the immediate future. I’m going out of town tomorrow morning, and will be gone until Thursday. THis should be it for a while though, as this is my last store upgrade. (and one new install)
So what’s been going on….
Well, work really. We did see the new Indiana Jones movie on Tuesday. I didn’t hate it, but I don’t know if I liked it either. Kelly put it best by saying it didn’t feel like an Indiana Jones movie. It really didn’t. I think it may have been too late for another one. Harrison Ford is like 400 years old, and just doesn’t fit the hero role anymore. Like I said, I didn’t hate it, but it just wasn’t like the old ones. So I guess I didn’t like it that much either.
Other then that, it’s been travel/work/sleep/work/sleep/travel rinse and repeat. I’m looking forward to staying home one full weekend soon. Not doing so kind of sucks.

Well it has been one whole week with the new baby and all goes well!!! Better then we could have imagined!!! Jasmine is adjusting very well to her new sister, although she still doesn’t like to share! But with all the gifts they got from their grandparents/aunties, uncles and cousins they don’t have to share!!!
They are finally getting used to each other and have stopped growling as they pass each other in the hallways… AND they have started to play like maniacs… it is very funny to watch!!! Leeloo had her first visit to Dr Sue, our vet, on Monday and she is completely healthy!!! All in all it was a good call to get another dog… and Dr Sue said it will be great for Jas in the long run too… keep her active..
So thank you to all for your comments and gifts!!! The girls love them!!! (Especially the ice cream treats from grandma… yumm frosty paws… )
xoxoxo

Hour 42
Hour 42, and still going. I wouldn’t exactly say strong…but I’m still going. I’m sort of a zombie. However, we are basically done with they go live day, as far as customers are concerned, and it seemed to go really well. No major issues at all really. We still have to close the day, so we still may have issues, but so far so good. It’s funny, when I upgraded the Muskegon store, we went live on a Monday. It ended up being one of the busiest Mondays they’ve had in a while. Well, as luck would have it, the Alpine store today also had it’s busiest Wednesday in a while. So the employees had a crash course today, lol. For the most part, they did fine though.
Right now I’m just waiting for 2:00am so we can run the reports, and I can head back to the hotel. I was good till about an hour ago. Then I started to hit a wall, lol. I’m just about spent right now. The employees that are here hanging out after their shifts are over offered to buy me a beer for all my hard work, which was cool. I didn’t take it though since I have to be up in a few hours to go to Celebration and start the work there.
I really just want to get home to meet my new puppy, lol.
5 comments30 hours and counting….
Hour 31.
I’m at the store for live coverage right now. My day started at 7:00am yesterday. Now in fairness, I did nap for two hours yesterday afternoon. So really, it’s up for 30 hours minus 2 hours of napping. However, the fact that I can type this post means that their go live day is going well so far. Not any major issues today, mostly training. Nothing major system based, so that’s good. I’m doing live coverage until 2:00am tonight, then back to the hotel for a little sleep, and off to Celebration tomorrow to start the process all over again.
I’m going to try and get a lot done tomorrow though, so I can sleep a little on Friday before I have to go the Celebration Friday night to do the system swap, then the live coverage all day on Saturday.
It’s a good thing I only have two more stores to do full upgrades on…this schedule is killer, lol.

6 commentsI don’t get it…
You know, everyone who lives on the west side of the state say how great it is, and how typical it is of “Detroiters” to not visit that side of the state because they think the whole state revolves around the Detroit area. Well, I was in Muskegon a few weeks ago for work, and they didn’t have the Pistons game on in the hotel. I thought maybe that was an isolated incident. Well, I’m in Grand Rapids this week, updating two of the stores here, and after a long day at work, I was just looking forward to going back to the hotel and chilling out in front of the TV to watch the Wings game. The Western Conference Final, Wings game. It’s not like it’s just some random game in the middle of the season…it’s the fucking conference finals.
Can you guess what I’m about to say by the tone of my post? That’s right, the hotel doesn’t get Vs. so I don’t get the Wings game. This is such shit. So, I got cleaned up, and went back to B-Dubs, where I worked all day, so I could watch the game. Just where I wanted to spend my evening.
Oh well, at least the Wings won…and I watched the Cleveland/Boston game as well and Cleveland won to even that series…which is good for Piston fans.
Rough week coming up. Two store upgrades=a lot of hours. Be back Sunday morning.
1 commentMyspace/Facebook observation
So all these websites are set up to meet people, whether it be new people, or to meet up with people from your past. I have a myspace page. I set it up when we were losing our jobs at Rayl…pretty much just for the hell of it. I rarely check it, and never update anything on it. But Rodney talked me into setting one up one day. Personally, I feel kind of like a pedophile from just visiting my own myspace page, but that may be something I need to work out.
Anyway, I hear facebook is a little better then myspace, or at least more adult oriented. Maybe there isn’t so many seizure inducing banner ads everywhere. Whatever. What I’m getting at is that I signed up for a facebook page and I put in what school I went to. Even though I graduated from Eisenhower, I put Stevenson in since most of my friends were from there. Once you put in your school, there is a listing on “People you may know” since they went to the same school that I went to. In my case, 27 different people came up. My question to you is, is it bad that I only remember 2 of them? I’m pretty notorious for not remembering people from high school. I don’t know why, I just don’t. I’ve even actually stopped pretending to know people. When they say “Hey Scott, how the hell are you?”, I say “good, but I’m sorry, you are?”. I find that it’s better to do that then to pretend like I know them, and get called on it. Had that happen once, and although I enjoy a comical situation more than anyone, it sucked. It would have been funny if I watched it happen to someone else though, heh.
Wait, I’m off topic here. The point is, I don’t get why I don’t remember these people. It’s not like I can’t remember anything, because I can remember stuff just fine. Unless I went to high school with you….then nothing. I mean, 2 out of 27 isn’t actually that bad. However, on myspace it was like 5 pages of people, and I didn’t recognize anyone. Not one god damn person. It’s crazy. I’m not a nostalgic type person anyway, just ask my wife. I never want to look at pictures, or watch videos. It’s just not my thing. At all. Maybe that’s what it is, right? The people I really want to know about, I still talk to, everyone else was just a passing acquaintance, and didn’t make an impact in the grand scheme of my life, so maybe that’s why I can’t remember some people.
Or maybe I’m just a dick.
5 commentsMovie Review: Iron Man
Kel and I saw this movie on Saturday with the Candelas. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. Everything about it was fun, from the casting to the special effects. Robert Downey Jr. was a perfect Tony Stark. It was funny, with good action, and good acting. Fun flick. You should go see it.
Right now.
Seriously, go, wtf are you waiting for?
2 commentsMexico
I’ve been back from Mexico since late Sunday night. I haven’t posted about it because I’ve been trying to get caught up with everything after having 5 days off. Plus, I’ve been so friggin sun burned that I couldn’t function. You know, I had absolutely no idea that Mexico was actually located on the sun. The weird part about it is that it wasn’t even that hot out. That’s when it’s dangerous…there is no warning. Unless EVERYONE you talk to tells you to be careful of the sun when you go, then it’s just left up to your own stupidity.
..ahem
Anyway, Mexico was pretty cool. The resort we stayed at was pretty sick. First off, it was huge. There really was no “running back to the room” to get something. If you forgot something, it was an hour round trip. I mean, this place was HUGE. (Big letters to try and get the point across) It was almost too big. The place that they went to last year was a lot smaller, and it made it easy to meet people. This place was so spread out, that no one area was ever really that busy. What I did do while I was there was drink more in 2 days, then I did in the past 10 years. Everyone got me so freaked out about the water and shit down there, that the only thing I trusted to drink was beer. That was fun though. We hung out around the pool at the resort during the day, for the most part, then went to one of the 7 resort restaurants for dinner, and wandered around looking for the hot spots at night. We got there Wednesday night and found nothing Weednesday or Thrusday that was really jumping so we just kind of hung out in the lobby bars. Thursday night we went in to Playa Del Carmen to try and find a sports bar to watch the Wings game. We actually found one that had a board out front that said they had the Wings game, but it was a lie. Then we caught up with another one of the guys from our group, and he told us that he found a place that had the game. Turns out, it was a sports book. So we sat in this Mexican sports book in Playa and watched the Wings game. It was great.
I got so fried on Thursday, that I took Friday off and didn’t leave the room. I now know what bacon feels like.
Saturday was sweet as we all went to Cozumel for the day. On the boat ride over, they were asking if anyone wanted to rent scooters, or jeeps, or these little 2 seater ATV things. Everyone was renting the ATV’s but neither Brad(my roomate for the trip) nor I brought our license so we couldn’t rent one. By the way, the boat ride sucked balls. It was a 450 passenger ferry, so a good sized boat, but that fucker got tossed around like it was a dingy. Half of us got sick from the hour long boat ride, but no one puked. I was soooo close though. Like if that boat ride was 1hr and 2 min…I would have blown breakfast all over the guys in front of me. When we got there, we all walked down the main strip to the rental place where everyone was picking up their cars. I tried talking the guy into renting me one without a license, but he wouldn’t go for it. I told Brad, fuck it, let’s go somewhere else. Someone will rent us something without a license. There are like 400 places that rent things, so it shouldn’t be too hard. We walked out of the one rental place, walked across the sidewalk, and literally the first person I talked to said he would rent us scooters. So Brad and I rented scooters to cruise around the island. I’m so glad we did that, as it was way better then having one of those ATV things. I ride a motorcycle, and this was as close as I could get to that, but I really think it was the way to go. Next year, I’m getting a scooter again. Plus, they actually went faster then the ATV’s, and you could lane split in the downtown area to get away from traffic. Good stuff.
Sunday was our travel day. We had breakfast, then met everyone in the lobby. We had to check out by noon, but we weren’t getting picked up till 1:30, so we sat in the lobby bar and waited. I actually watched the movie Jumper, which wasn’t bad, cool concept, but Hayden Christiansen is like the worst actor ever…next to Paul Walker. Anyway, we go a ride to the airport in Cancun, and when we walked in, there were about 1000 people in there. We got there 3.5 hours early, just for this reason. We walked down the line, to find the NWA desk, and when we got there it was literally the only desk with no one in front of it. NO ONE. We thought it was closed. There wasn’t one person waiting in line. It was GREAT. We got right through, and the security check was nothing as well. You don’t have to take your shoes off and shit like you do here, so we breezed right through that. Of course, that now means that we’re in the airport 3 hours early. So we ate at Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville in the airport, and then I sat down in a chair and watched I Am Legend. I haven’t watched the end yet, so I don’t know if I like it or not.
The flight home was uneventful, which is always good for a flight, and we ended up getting in on time, and I was home before midnight on Sunday. I was completely sun burned though, so I was pretty miserable for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I went to the doctor and he gave me this burn victim cream stuff, and wrapped me up like I was stuck in a fire, but it seems to be working as I feel a lot better today.
