Hi blog, how’ve you been?

I’ve been sooo busy lately that I haven’t had time to sit and think, much less to post about whats going on.

Lets see, whats been going on….

This Saturday we are opening our second new store in two weeks at work. Great for us, as business is good enough to open two new BW3 locations, but it sure does make for a busy schedule for the IT guy….me. I had a VIP party last night at our Rochester location, another one tonight (although I do get to party a little at this one), then I have to be there for live coverage tomorrow on their go live date. Of course, I did this same thing last week/weekend for our Livonia location. The bummer is I just got offered tickets for the Michigan State/Wisconsin game tomorrow in East Lansing and I can’t use them. Dammit.

Oh yeah, my home computer died. I got home from one of the late nights last week in Livonia (they’re all running together in my head) and I noticed bright lights coming out of the office. I have my monitors set to turn off after 10 minutes so it’s odd for it to be lit up like that. I walked in to see on both monitors of my dual display, hard disk boot failure. At the time, I just shut it off because I didn’t want to deal with it, but upon further investigation I found out the the mobo is fried. It’s a pretty old computer, and is due for an upgrade anyway. I started to look into a laptop, but decided I like having a desktop at home. Then I looked into building a computer and I realized, it’s not like the old days where you can build a better system for less money anymore. PC companies have become competitive enough that you can buy a loaded pre-built system for less money now. So I went to all the usual suspects to try and find a PC in my budget. I ended up at Alienware where I ordered an Alienware Area 51-7500 desktop. 2.66ghz Quad core processor, 4gb RAM, 1TB of storage and dual 9800 GT video cards. I should be able to clone sheep with this fucking thing. I’m so geeked to get it. It also has Grid, a new car game, and Crysis, game of the year, included, so I will have some shit to play. Plus, the case looks like a predator head, which is tight.

Oh, the Tivo saga continues also. I got the refurbed unit from Tivo to replace my series 3 that ate itself…for the second time, and the box they sent me was DOA. Can you fucking believe that? Dead as fuck. So they sent me another one. I got that one, which worked, but then I found out that when Comcast came out to check the cable cards, the asshole technician didn’t make sure that the cards he left were the ones on the account still, so I had to call them and have them come back out again, which they are doing tomorrow. I can’t even tell the last time I had a working Tivo now. The good thing is that we just re-did our bedroom and I’ve been using that TV which is a brand new 37″ LG LCD that I just pickup up. We also have an HD DVR in there too, so it hasn’t been that bad. Is that weird that we have two HD DVR’s and an HD series 3 Tivo in the house, for just two people? We can now record up to 6 shows at once. :)

Anyway, that’s about it. Since I stopped to type this out, I’m now 2 weeks behind at work. Thanks a lot.

Tivo

Okay, so since day one I’ve been a huge Tivo supporter. The interface on Tivo is a million times better then the DVR you get from your cable company. It’s not even close. However, this series 3 that we have is giving me grief. I’m sure I posted about this last time this happened, but it pretty much stopped working correctly again. The big problem is that this is the second time this has happened. I did all the regular trouble shooting before calling anyone. Taking out the one cable card, rebooting, swapping them, rebooting, blah blah. I deduced that one of the cable cards was bad. Not a big surprise since those things are shit anyway. So I called Comcast to schedule someone to come out and replace that cards. They were out this morning and what we found out is that it’s not the cable card at all, but the actual Tivo that’s fucked up.

This is our second series 3 Tivo. The exact same thing happened last time, and I’m starting to get really annoyed. Well, right now I’m beyond annoyed, I’m fucking furious. The fact that I’m on hold with Tivo, and they’re wait time is 15 minutes, isn’t helping.

Just got off the phone. My Tivo is fucked….again. So here’s what bothers me. I spend a bunch of money…and this fucker was a bunch of god damn money, and within a year, it dies. What does Tivo do? They send me a refurb unit. Less than a year later, that one dies too. So now, they’re sending me another refurb unit.

Let me re-iterate that…I buy something new, it doesn’t work, they send me someone elses piece of shit that didn’t work that they fixed, then that one doesn’t work, and now they’re sending me yet another persons piece of shit that didn’t work, that they fixed again. Oh, I’m over flowing with optimism about this next one.

Prior to this, I was going to try and talk Kel into getting a Tivo HD for the bedroom, but now I’m thinking fuck Tivo.

From My Aunt Debbie~ If Anyone is looking to sell a RELIABLE car… post here and I will tell her to check for updates!

Just wanted to put a request out there for anyone who may know someone selling a good, low mileage, used car. We are in the process of finding a car for David. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, his current car is no longer alive.

If you know of anyone or may have seen something good, let us know.

Leeloo…seriously, wtf?

Our new dog Leeloo is an asshole. That’s right, I said it, she’s an asshole. Last night from 1:00am to 3:00am she decided everyone in the house should be awake. I was going to come in to work early today, because I have so much shit to do, but because of my dog I didn’t get to sleep until 4:00am. Needless to say, I didn’t come in early today. Tonight, I’m going to take her for a run. Not a walk, a fucking run. If this doesn’t knock her out tonight, then we may have a dog up for grabs.

~FINALLY~

So I am finally getting a KING SIZE BED… I am beyond excited… with 2 big dogs, one tiny cat and my husband there is NO room for me on our bed now… It was manageable with just Jasmine and billie but now you throw Leeloo into the mix and it is just silly!!! Of course this in no way impacts Scott… all the pets sleep on my side!!! Even when he is gone for work I wake up and all the animals are on my side and his side is WIDE open… I think he trains them to do that…

SO moral to my rant is… I am gettin a big bed!!! YEAH!!!

My Dad

October 13th, 2008 | Category: Scott

As some of you know, my Dad has been sick lately. He had cancer in his esophagus, and it was really touchy there for a while. His treatment actually worked on the tumor, and it appears that the cancer there is all gone. Unfortunately, that news accompanied bad news as well. He has another tumor in his shoulder. I won’t go into details, but I just wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers in the past, and ask for them one more time.

My Dad has been through a lot of shit. A weaker person would have quit a long time ago. He’s the toughest guy I know, and a great example of always fighting. Thank you for being a great role model pops. We may have a tough road ahead, but I know that we can get through this if we keep fighting.
