My trip to Boyne
We had our business conference for work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. Every year it’s at Boyne Mountain. I’ve never been there before, so I was excited to see the place. I had a great time. We drove out on Tuesday morning. Lunch was from 11:00-12:00, then we had meetings until 6:30. After that, we got checked into our condos and got ready for dinner.
The condos were built for 5 people, but Jeremy (our controller) and I lucked out when the two guys from FSN that were supposed to come up, couldn’t make it. That left just Brian (one of our beer reps), Jeremy, and myself in a 5 person condo. We each had our own room, and our own bathroom.
After we got cleaned up, we went to dinner. Good food and an open bar. From there, it was off to the arcade. Every year they have an arcade party on the first night where the company rents the whole place, and gives everyone a bunch of tokens. Oh, and an open bar. We closed the arcade, then migrated to the bar attached to it. Stayed there the rest of the night, and had a blast. As most of you know, I rarely drink. I did this week though, and it was a good time. We closed that bar, and I got back to my condo about 2:30.
The next morning was breakfast at 7:30, meeting until 10:30, then off to the golf course by 11:00. It was funny, Tuesday it was sunny and nice, Thursday it was sunny and nice, but Wednesday when we golfed, it was cold, raining and shitty. I mean it was fucking freezing out there. We still had a great time, and considering the conditions, our team shot a respectible -2 par. Despite the fact that I played horrible. If it’s raining and shitty, don’t use your golf glove. You can’t grip the club for shit. Once I took taht off, I was hitting them well. I just wished I did it way earlier. Oh yeah, Jason Garrity, who is out Ann Arbor stores GM got a hole in one! I didn’t see it, but everyone heard about it along the course. Nice job Jay.
After golf we got cleaned up and went to dinner, then to a couple of the bars in the resort. I actually went back to the room early that night…as almost everyone did, and completely crashed out. I did do a shot off of a snowboard first though. It was a little mini snowboard that had 3 shot glasses on it. I was the center man, so I controlled the board, and James (Rochester GM) was on one side, and Shaina (Boston Beer co. rep) was on the other, and I tipped it and we all did the shot. Fun stuff.
Thursday was breakfast at 7:30, then meeting until 1:00. We gave out the golf awards, and I won a new golf bag. It’s a Michelob Light cart bag, which is cool because I only have a stand bag. After that, it was the ride home. Pretty cool week. How was yours so far?
