Hey Pops, Jasmine is coming up to keep you company
I posted this on perfectmancave.com and I figured I would just copy and paste it here as I didn’t feel like typing it out again. I put the original post in quotes, and the rest at the end I added.
“First off, fuck cancer.
Yesterday morning at 9:01am, my father lost a 14 year long battle with cancer and passed away. He had 3 different kinds of cancer over those 14 years. First, it was some sort of throat cancer. He had a 4″ tumor removed from his tongue, and had to learn to talk and eat again. The second was prostate cancer. Oddly enough, that was found during a pre-op for a heart problem he was having. It was stage 1, and they got it early enough. This last one was esophageal cancer, which is a very bad one. They thought they got it all out of his esophagus, but it had already spread, and it couldn’t be stopped. Once they stopped treating him because it just made him sick, but didn’t do anything to the cancer, it was a quick decline. Just a couple of weeks ago he came into one of my stores for lunch with my cousin. He had never been there, and I met them and had lunch with them. He wasn’t eating real well, and was real tired since they had done some running around that day, but I’m glad he got to see the place I work for. We (the 3 kids) basically moved into his house two days ago, and were with him the majority of the time. Oddly enough, after being there all day and night, I decided to shoot home (only a few minutes away) to get my blood pressure pills, and to take a quick shower. When I got out of the shower, I found out that he died while I was gone. A year ago he was given 6 months max to live. A month ago the doctors called him a walking miracle. Now, he can finally relax and get some peace.

We’ve been running around, getting everything ready for the funeral, while my dog Jasmine was sick. My wife had taken her to the vet a couple of times as we think she has Cushings disease. Well, she started to get real aggressive towards the other dog, and she started throwing up, so we took her back to the vet. We found out that along with her liver problems, she actually had something lodged in her stomach that was blocking her food, and was probably what was making her act like such a dick to the other dog. She had to go under the knife to get that removed. She did that two days ago, but she was running a fever, so they wouldn’t let her go home. They said that by Thursday, if they could get the fever under control, she could go home. Well today, my wife called me from the vets to say that Jaz wasn’t getting better. I went and visited between running errands for the funeral, and she was so doped up she couldn’t lift her head. She then went to the urgent care hospital. They said that they needed to open her back up to see why she was declining instead of getting better. They sent my wife home and said they would call after the 2 hour procedure. 20 minutes after my wife got home we got the call. Jaz didn’t survive the anesthetic and she passed away this afternoon.”
I’m just kind of numb right now. I don’t know what to feel. I know that this week is the worst week of my life, and it’s only Wednesday. Seriously, what the fuck?

I know that Grandpa Andrzejewski must have been lonely, so he called his favorite dog “Jeffrey” (Jasmine!) to keep him company. We will all miss her very much. Our prayers are with both of you. We LOVE you guys.
